Item checkboxes cannot be disabled on windows 11

I had the same problem. It seems it was stuck in "tablet mode" and I fixed it by closing and opening the laptop lid.

I recently upgraded to windows 11 on my laptop, and I can't disable item check boxes in the file explorer.

Disabling item check boxes works on the desktop, but not in the file explorer (see attached screenshot).

I have tried disabling "Use check boxes to select items" in folder settings, and changing the value of HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\AutoCheckSelect to 0 in the registry, both of which do not solve the problem.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

OMG, I was searching for a solution myself and indeed seems it was juststuck in "tablet mode" and I fixed it too by closing and opening the laptop lid (on a Surface Pro 7).

thank you, thank you. Finally got rid of the checkboxes. I also rebooted, and kept my fingers crossed, that this would persist.

... and not me. I have a Lenovo Yoga C740 14 "2-in-1. But this helped me.

Services: Turn this on: YMC -> Running-> Automatic

C: \ Windows \ System32 \ YMC.exe

I have the same Issue with a Lenovo Yoga 2-in-1-Laptop. Unfortunately I cannot find the value "run" in my registry. Could you maybe provide the path?
