Windows 11 file explorer is slow and lag. When using the up and down arrows it goes very slow compared to windows 10 which is super fast. It is also slow when opening folders as well as selecting either with the mouse or with shift + arrows.

    I'am using Winaero Tweaker, on Windows 11 menu, try the "enable ribbon" option (welcome to Win 10 style file explorer, by the way), I'ts worked for me, at least.

    This KB number description does not mention any fixes from MS pertaining to File Explorer that I can see. Plus it's installation through update occurred automatically some time back and hasn't changed Explorer's behaviour at all.

    So maybe it is hardware related. Having mixed formatted drives like EXFAT and FAT32 might give Windows 11 a hard time.

    Same here. It's a shame that new Windows 11 is released with such big problem on a very basic OS program.

    New windows must be faster not slower that before.... Microsoft try to focus on importat things not on bloatware

    Going back to Win 10 now.

    Windows 11 is running so slow when reading my drivers. For example, I have been trying to empty my Recycle Bin the whole day. It takes forever to open it, and slowly I have to delete the files manually (selecting them). The option of Empty Recycle Bin does not work, it freezes the computer. Windows 7, and even Windows 10, were way faster than Windows 11.

    I can't believe that they haven't fixed this problem yet.

    Please, do something about it. It is impeding my work.

    For me, issue was caused by iCloud.

    Resolved by uninstalling iCloud, restarting explorer & onedrive - normal behaviour restored.

    A computer that had been upgraded from W10 to W11.

    Current build - Windows 11 - 10.0.22000.527
