With the February update to Windows 11 - you have the option to disable MS start to feed from the Widget Settings. Requires Windows 11 23H2 at least.
How to disable news and interest in Windows 11 widget
I want to keep the widget on my task bar, however I don't want the new stories to show. I've hide a bunch of them and they still end up showing, but I'm constantly having to hide them all since there are sooooo many. How do I disable the top stories, and the news and interest without turning off my widgets. I ONLY want the weather to show.
I've uninstalled microsoft news but I'm still seeing the news stories.

I would suggest that you completely remove the the Widgets app from your taskbar - see here -and pin the Weather App to Start / Taskbar.

2023-11-25T13:28:49+00:00 Holy Grail Time -- Press R while holding down the Windows logo button on your keyboard. This pops-up a little command window. Enter "cmd" to bring up a whole window to enter commands, so you can see the results from entering the one command you need, at the prompt.
winget uninstall "Windows web experience Pack"
All that stuff about widgets is moot. All the widgets belong 100% to the web pack. No more news about sea cruises, communists, some fashion snafu, or cats in tree. Or conspiracies. -- Go to the Microsoft Store to find something more suitable.

2023-11-18T13:40:20+00:00 Did you ever figure out how to this?
The news feed is way to cluttered, not useful and I just don't want it their but I would love to show the weather, my calender and traffic information in the widget.
Nope - it is still not possible. Have received perhaps 50 answers though of people complaining and hating the same problem, sometimes offering an incorrect solution. Have heard rumors that they will make this change in the future... though who knows when the future will happen. All the best!
