12/06/2021 A new out of band update KB5004476 released for version 2004, 20H2 and 21H1. Build number incremented to 19041.1022, 19042.1022, and 19043.1022. Changelog:

This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue that might redirect you to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when you try to install or start an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device. Additionally, you receive error 0x80073D26 or 0x8007139F. For more information, see KB5004327.

This update is available as an optional update in Windows update.

    I was facing issue. Installed kb5003637 now at 19043.1052.

    I know exactly where you're coming from, zapbuzz. As fg2001 rudely pointed out, it is possible to 'turn this feature off' (yeah right!), however, this does not uninstall it.

    There are threads on the internet on how to use PowerShell to get rid of the more **** parts of the Windows OS, but some of them are sadly so tied into Windows that it stops it from working.

    As a disclaimer, I must say that some of these crappy-apps are tied into the OS, so you may experience issues if you uninstall willy-nilly. Presently, I don't know how mixed up this 'News and Interests' widget is with the OS, but someone will find a way to really disable it at some point.

    Microsoft is pissing me off more and more. And I hate saying that because I've used Microsoft ever since I started using computers. The only thing that irritated me was how you'd get pushed off something and forced to go to something else. I was happy with Windows XP and had to go to Windows 7. Thankfully I liked Windows 7 as much as I liked Windows XP. And then I get forced into the **** pile of Windows 10. I say **** pile but I think everybody knows I mean something stronger than that. What happened to Microsoft? Do they even test their stuff out before putting it out?

    First comes the random restarts without any errors being logged. That's been happening for quite awhile tbh. I realize a lot of people think that might be faulty equipment more than a problem with Microsoft. I don't think so. There's too many days of everything running fine and then it'll do it. Computer isn't freezing or slowing down. It'll just randomly restart like somebody touched the restart button. Not happy about that problem but at least I know to constantly save stuff if I'm typing up something lengthy.

    And then here comes this last update. I had automatic updates selected because I figured it would be the best way to receive updates. Not anymore. Today was the second day the computer had to repair itself because the updates aren't doing right and the updates have to be undone. I'm not gonna risk losing stuff on my computer because of these crappy updates.

    I don't have the money to go out and buy a brand new computer. But I'm so disgusted with Microsoft and I honestly don't see things getting any better, I'm going with something else when I can get another computer. I'm done.

    I'm not sure if your problem is the same but I was getting a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) with 'stop code page fault in non paged area' after installing the latest updates. After spending the past 2 days trying to resolve it (same thing with constant installation of updates followed by Windows repairing itself following restart as the updates failed and caused a BSOD) I finally got it functional again and could install the updates without any further problems. The cause was an Arcsoft file supposedly associated with AVG Antivirus and Total Media Theatre called ArcSec.sys.

    The following steps solved it for me (although I'm still not happy that I had to go through all this to solve a problem which would have left my Windows unable to receive other updates). Hopefully if the BSOD issue you're experiencing is the same it may work for you too.

    I firstly downloaded BlueScreenView from here to analyze the minidump files which pointed to a problem with ntoskrnl.exe:

    To look further into this I downloaded Windows Debugger (WinDbg) from here:

    which pointed to a problem with ArcSec.sys being the culprit so I used Autoruns for Windows v13.100 from here:

    which allowed me to find and delete ArcSec.sys and after doing so Windows could install the update without further BSOD 'stop code page fault in non paged area' messages.
