12/06/2021 A new out of band update KB5004476 released for version 2004, 20H2 and 21H1. Build number incremented to 19041.1022, 19042.1022, and 19043.1022. Changelog:

This non-security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue that might redirect you to the Microsoft Store page for Gaming Services when you try to install or start an Xbox Game Pass game on your Windows 10 device. Additionally, you receive error 0x80073D26 or 0x8007139F. For more information, see KB5004327.

This update is available as an optional update in Windows update.

    Hi

    I'm also getting the BSOD thanks to this latest update. The machine goes though the tedious attempts to repair it, fails and then removes the install. The problem is when it comes back I have no sound or webcam. Device manager says everything is fine, but right clicking the speaker icon tells me no hardware is installed. This is a crisis, at the moment I really need to be using zoom etc for obvious reasons.

    I have a disc backup from last november and a rescue disc so have installed the old image and the machine now works again, but of course it tries to update and fails, so I have to run the image install again. I have now done this twice.

    I have paused updates, but can only do it for a week. This is simply not acceptable, please stop pushing this update, I need my machine.

    I am not much a of a computer techie, I know enough to run the rescue process but tracing faults like this is beyond me and frankly I shouldn't have to do it.

    Please help, I'm desperate. How can I stop this update?

    For me, the very fact that the News and Interests section is there at all is a big issue. No permission was asked for cookie storage - this option just appeared, so it's already breaching the European GDPR act. I don't use Bing, or Edge on my PC, so my knowing that I haven't been asked for consent goes without saying, really.

    Turning this 'feature' off is moot - it shouldn't be there.

    I didn't notice this problem because I prefer to use a normal sized second keyboard, rather than the one on my laptop, but after reading it, I realized that although I've rolled back the update, my keyboard backlight isn't on, either. It used to always come on. In my office, I don't need it, but if I were in a darker area on vacation or traveling, I would.

    Have you tried booting in safe mode?

    I've rebooted a bunch of times after undoing the update, and I don't see any point in safe mode at this point. My computer, without the last update, is now working. But in seeing other people's problems, I've delayed any more updates for the 35 days I'm allowed to, but I posted this note to confirm for developers that they need to fix this issue. It was a "me too" post.
