Hi Wookie I have the same issue you describe, BSOD with the latest update. I also kills my sound and webcam. I ran the blue screen view and it comes up with the same info as you describe - ntoskrnl.exe
But after that you lost me, I'm not that much of a tech. Any help you can give would be gratefully accepted, I'm getting desperate.

OK, I ran it all again and the error code for the failure is Ox800f0845
As usual I now have no sound (no hardware installed apparently!) although all is good in device manager. Also no webcam. So it can't stay like this for long.
Windows support forum told me to run
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup
Did that, no difference. Still refuses to update and still now sound or webcam.
I also tried to follow Wookie77's post from June 13th and blue screen view showed a problem with ntoskrnl.exe, but after that I couldn't follow the instructions.

One way is to click Start then get help which is a virtual online help.
The other is to telephone Microsoft at the number for your country.

Sorry for the outburst. No, I wasn't aware this isn't a microsoft site, it does give the impression of being just that.
Is there any way of actually contacting Microsoft and getting their help? I suspect that's a daft question. As I said to Sumit I'm not an IT tech so I am floundering with this and getting desperate.

The problem is I've now had to rebuild the machine so there is nothing in the update history. The latest update kills my sound and webcam, I just can't leave the machine in that state because I absolutely need both to work. I'll have to go through the depressing loop of failed install, wrecking of the machine and rebuilding from the image again. I just can't afford for my machine to be unusable for a period of time.
This has been going on since the update came down a week or so ago. I had updates turned off following the initial failure but I saw your post about an updated install so tried again, I had hoped that would cure the thing. My machine was totally stable and reliable before this happened.
I am not a computer tech, I have some limited knowledge but frankly I'm well out of my depth,.
I will run the updates again and get the error log later. Thanks for any help you can give me.
