Microsoft Photo Viewer automatically applies yellow tint to photos

Microsoft Photo Viewer applies a yellow filter to all images when I try to view them, if I'm skipping between photos quickly there's a short glimpse of the normal photo before the filter is applied.

This doesn't permennantly change the images however it makes it hard to see the quality of the photos. Unlike any previous issues I can find online it's only the photo that's yellowish not the background.

I've tried to fix this by removing the colour profiles and restarting my pc however this didn't help.

I'm currently using windows 10

Ok

now i solved it

I solved following this guide:

  1. go to Colour Management (search in the search folder)
  2. select the monitor you are looking the photo into (IMPORTANT! i did it once and did'nt worked because i was selecting the wrong monitor)
  3. check Use My Profile
  4. remove the current color profile
  5. add a new profile and select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 under ICC Profiles
  6. close and reboot

If you don't whant to remove the colour profile, you can try to add a new one and select it as a default profile.

    Hi

    this is happening to me too

    and nothing about "reinstall", "update", "reset" nor "repair" worked

    it seems like is a filter settings, but i tried going to colour management to the monitor and remove the color (now i'm going with the default colour profile and is still yellow ish)

    Note: opening the photo with a different app (for example MS Paint) has the correct colour tint, but opening with the Photo has the yellowish tint, same things happening at the OP

    I've been through all of the same suggested resolutions. None of them were successful. My last attempt was to try to uninstall and reinstall Photos. The only way to do this is by using PowerShell since MS doesn't really want anyone to remove it easily.

    Open PowerShell (you don't need to open as administrator if it's on your privately owned PC and you already have full access).

    Copy and paste this

    get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage

    and hit the enter button.

    I did this, and then logged into the MS App Store and redownloaded/installed Photo again. Guess what? Same yellow tint.

    Since MS support apparently has no fix for this and seems oblivious to it being a problem, I uninstalled Photo again with the Powershell script. My default app automatically changed to Paint. It's not ideal but it's free and the images open up in their correct state. I hope this helps.
