Windows update fails to install 2021-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5004237)

Good day,

I have attempted numerous times to install windows update 2021-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based Systems (KB5004237) on my system. It fails regardless of the various command to shut down and restart services. The error code is: 0x80073712

When I went to the Windows Catalog, this version would not load. It said that it was not for my system. What is attempting to load is a different version of KB5004237, but that too failed.

Is there a way to fix or bypass this update?

    I just installed a clean drive-wiped version of Windows 10 this morning. Hours later, multiple problems getting the updates to install, I come to this one. My build is 21H1 (OS Build 19043.928). Like several others, I resorted to the Microsoft Update Catalog for this one. The others actually worked. After waiting for it to download, Windows decided to block it because it could be harmful to my device. What??? Thinking it might have been corrupted or something the first time, I downloaded it again. Then, when I reassured Windows it was ok, and I tried to get it to install, I was told the data is invalid.

    So, I looked at what was cumulative. Thirty eight files are in this cumulative update. Go again to the Catalog, download one, and Windows Update Standalone Installer tells me error 0x8007000d, The data is invalid. That particular one was KB4557957.

    Next tried KB4567523. Same.

    Then KB4560366. Yes! Success!!

    KB4565503. Data is invalid.

    Just great.

    Everyone knows that awful feeling when you find that your computer restarted overnight to install an update that is still installing and you spend the first hour of your day watching little balls spinning in a circle.

    Now imagine that that happens to you every single day of the week.

    That is my Windows 10 experience.

    It's a **** show.

    As of today no change. The same "update" tried to push its way into the system, but hasn't the ability to complete the job.
    Will WIN 11 be any better?

    Ahem, update on my above post. For no accountable reason I can come up with, this, and all the other updates finally finished installing this morning, and I am able to do other things with the new build, like install software for the Radeon graphics card, which refused to install because of the pending Windows updates. Simple things should just not be this difficult.
