Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    I haven't progressed since I'm afraid I might make another problem.

    And no, only 1 Windows installed, which is in C: (part 4) if memory recalls.

    Also, I can only install this new Windows in D: (part 6) because I need almost 16GB.

    It sounds like you’d end up with two Windows installations.

    Unfortunately I’m out of options. I suspect if you go further it would make matters worse.

    Ok so, I just read somewhere that you can have 2 Windows installed. Can you confirm this?

    Or, can I just overwrite the windows in C:?

    You can have several Windows installation but each install requires its own license.

    Is the other Windows version the old Windows 10 & you’ve created a new partition to reinstall the same version or a different Windows version (7, 8/8.1 etc)? Does it have its own license?
