Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    Yes it's Toshiba, btw I'm thinking of trying other option like Network Boot or EFI USB Device.

    IT WORKED!! I tried EFI USB Device and turns out that's the right one hehe. So I selected my settings, went to "Repair your computer" and it directed me to WinRE, now what?

    Ok so I pressed Continue to Windows 10 but the CRITICAL PROCESS DIED still occurs. I'm thinking to restore system because I've read that the BSOD appears because I've been modifying system files which is true.

    So I did system restore but it said "You must enable System Protection on this drive" and C: drive mentioned. So I do some cmd "net start vss" and "rstrui.exe /offline:C:\windows=active" then I tried to do it but it failed to do the restore with error code 0x80070002.
