Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    The file points to your entire registry so I’m not comfortable with sharing my copy of that file if it does.

    I suspect a reset of the PC is required as the error points to registry corruption..

    Ok, I've encountered new problem, 0xc0000225 with "system registry file is missing or contains error" with path: windows\system32\config\system. The error occured after I tried to fix "You must enable system protection". Can you provide the file from mediafire if possible?

    The error means that system files are corrupted.
    You’re either going to have to run sfc & dism within the re or clean install Windows.
    Right click on start & choose powershell with admin & enter:
    SFC /SCANNOW
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
