Original title: wdfilter.sys missing or contains error.

Ok so after I got WdBoot.sys error, I did  chkdsk and sfc /scannow. It seems to go away, but another Wd error appears again, WdFilter.sys now. It seems that windows defender is having problem but I don't know how that happens. I'm also assuming the whole wd driver is faulty. Any solution?

Update: I just did a system restore and the wdboot.sys error came back.

Which Windows 10 build are you running - 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1?

The problem can be caused by malware:

Try running these programs:

MBAM free: https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/

Eset online scanner: http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

Adwcleaner: https://www.malwarebytes.com/adwcleaner/

If these find one or more infections but do not fully remove them it will be wise to register with a malware removal site to receive dedicated malware removal instructions, an expert will remain with you throughout the process until confirmation that your PC is 100% clean.

    My laptop is Lenovo G40-80 with model number of 80E4. Yes I did tried rapidly pressing all 3 keys with Fn.

    I don't know how to update my BIOS, it's too problematic. Maybe I will see.

    What’s the full make & model of the PC?

    Did you rapidly click the key as soon as you see the manufacturer’s logo?

    That can also be an indication of a problematic driver, that a BIOS update is required, Windows file corruption or malware.

    Ok so, I already rapidly pressed f7, f8 and f12, the screen won't appear, instead got new BSOD called Critical Process Died.

    I will try to boot from that old USB and update the video driver since I believe the game I just updated did that. I will inform you.
