My Celeron 4900 operates just fine with Windows 11 Pro.

My system is running great on the latest build of Win 11, even though it states my PC does not meet the minimum hardware requirements:

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz

Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)

Device ID DC1B7DB1-4639-41B3-9D24-31311F6B31DD

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Pen and touch Touch support with 10 touch points

Will Microsoft revise the minimum system requirements once the Beta builds go into a final release?

That's a good question. So far, Microsoft has only said that 7th generation Intel Core processors are being evaluated by the Windows Insiders. Perhaps, we don't know yet, they will be among the anointed, for public release of Win11.

Thing is, the 7th gen Intel Core are not that different from several previous generations. They were marginal improvements. Clock rates slightly higher, base and turbo, that sort of thing. And, 7th Intel Core CPUs gen won't run Windows 7, apparently, while 6th gen could, even though they normally came with WIn10 pre-installed. This mattered most to enterprises, when their new PCs still had to run Win7, like the rest of the enterprise.

In fact, those 7th gen Intel Core processors were still vulnerable to Spectre/Meltdown, needing the BIOS update to mitigate the threat. Just like 8th gen were, and 6th and prior generations. And of course, also vulnerable to ZombieLoad, as even Intel Core 9th gen processors are.

As far as performance is concerned, there was a more pronounced difference with 8th gen, when the number of cores and threads increased, from all previous versions.

The more you read about this stuff, the more absurd this motherhood and apple pie "explanations" we get from Microsoft sound, for their idea that so many PCs must be sent to the scrap heap. Let's hope they come to their senses.

My pc has an i5 7400 3GHz 4 core and I was able to download and am successfully running Windows 11 now. It works great and runs fast. I am just in the beta program.

My CPU is not supported so far in their list but hopefully will be. I don't want to have to do a clean Windows 10 install down the line!

I'd have no problem upgrading the CPU but the board in my Aspire doesn't support any of the supported CPU's.

I sure hope MS will throw us a bone. My PC is about a year old and has all I need.

All that said, I am enjoying 11 and hope to be able to keep it.
