Windows 11 Related Discussion [NOT OFFICIAL]

I could be wrong but even though TPM 2.0 and secure boot can be turned on in the BIOS in 100 and 200 series boards I'm beginning to think that VBS and Kernal DMA protection may be a determining factor. Whilst any PC with a 64 bit CPU and sufficient RAM and drive space may run win11 with no problems it may not be able to run it securely which I think is what MS is going for this time round with TPM and secure boot and I think 300 series and up support Kernel DMA protection which I think is why MS went for the 8th gen and up or similar for AMD. As I see it at the moment, 100 and 200 series boards will most likely need a bios update which is currently being worked on my most hardware manufacturers to address this. Until we know more though everything is up for speculation.

the problem is that some 100 series boards like Asus Z170 do NOT include the Intel PTT (built in TPM) option in the BIOS and Asus has not issued any new bios updates for those specific boards to enable that option. so those users are totally screwed

for 200 series boards like Z270, there are already new BIOS updates available for most of those boards

I've just found out that my HP laptop with Intel Core i3 7th Gen is not compatible with Windows 11.

8Gb de RAM

256Gb SATA 6Gbps M.2

TPM 2.0 activated

Etc etc etc.

My laptop meets all the requirements except the processor. Looks like Microsoft made a good deal with Intel and AMD to boost PC sales...

Did a quick comparison from a i3-8100 and a i3-6100 just to find a way of finding out why 6th and 7th gen aren't supported in windows 11 but after looking at both in HWinfo there's not really that much in it as both are very similar apart from the enhanced features section, DDR4 speeds and cache info.

I have an i3-7100, it is of 3.9Ghz, 2 core 4 threads, and is a 64-bit processor, it is easily compatible with Windows 11 according to the above-given data by Microsoft, but according to Microsoft Windows 11 processor support list, i3-7100 isn't supported, now I don't know why it is not supported but according to the above-given requirements by Microsoft, my processor should be easily compatible with Windows 11 but they haven't added it in their support list

my system have i3-7th gen but i don't know why the microsoft didn't listed i3-7th gen in supported list.
