2nd Gen AMD Ryzen processors are supported, you may have mistaken, and 7th Gen is under testing most likely getting added, I myself have a 7th Gen processor.

So your AMD processor is supported and intel one is most likely getting support for Windows 11.

Man this is soooo stupid... I have 2 fairly modern Notebooks:

A HP Envy X360 with an Ryzen 5 2500u, touchscreen and a pen and it would benefit sooo much from win 11 but i can't install Windows 11 because you guys in the white tower think, everbody should run out and buy new Notebooks. This has nothing to do with security, don't fool the users. My HP supports TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot and is in UEFI Mode. These are features wich are understandable from a security standpoint. Where is the logic? A wimpy Athlon 300u gets Win11 but a Ryzen 7 2700u doesn't??. But hardlocking specific CPU squeues out because you feel like it? common!!

My other Notebook is a Clevo with an i7 7700HQ, 16GB DDR4 and a GTX 1060 and it's also supporting TPM and Secure Boot. It's still a pretty powerfull machine but it also can't get the update because the CPU is older than 4 years.

That my Desktop PC isn't getting a Win11 is something i can understand because the i7 6700k doesn't support TPM2.0 out of the box. But i think if I would add a TPM 2.0 card it should be supported.

The developers working on windows: Are you planning to give Apple more marketshare? Because if you do so, this is the way to go. This is exactly what is annoying the hell out of windows users, and making them consider Apple as an alternative, because ive you buy a Mac, you can be sure that you'll get Updates for your device for a long time. When going windows it'**** or miss now. I think this is one of the must stupid decision you could have made regarding your image. Next time, before you make such decisions, take a look at the Steam hardware survey to get an idea, how many systems wich are in service right now would be affected by the updated. Fun fact: right now you will not reach even only 1% of all Systems in use until this point in time.

Btw: developers like it to optimize for a plattform with a large installbase. Good luck with windows 11

Do you know how vast majority use internet today? FB, Instagram, Tweeter, Youtube and alternatives. That is their whole internet. And even if they use search engines, they do not search on how to turn on TPM, SecureBoot, BitLocker, or whatever, they just search for other stuff. That is not their point of interest.

I work with people and I know how vast majority behave and what is their knowledge about stuff. One word - lame. Meybe they are great or good in fixing cars, but other things.....lame.

As I mentioned, I work as seller. Yes, there is info on almost everything on internet (much as disinformations), but people always come to the store, I have to explain them to detail about much everything. From vacuum cleaner, to TVs. And that same info that I learned about (yes I have over 30 years of experience in hardware) I got from internet (before that I had to ask) and a very little from company presentations (just marketing).

So, why 99% of people come to store and I have to explain them to detail what is what? Because they don't know how to find info. Even detailed info for that matter. And even if they find, they are scared to change something in order not to break things. But surely they can click on clickbait.

Now, we return to Windows with two things:

1. It doesn't matter if you have whole army of protection in front of your PC, user clicks something, allows it and voila.....you got nuked. This always happens on social platforms (save this kid by clicking to get a prayer.....). Luckly there is an antvirus software, but only for known viruses/malwares and their probable variants. But, something new comes up always.

The only and only one in security is the user.

2. Microsoft presentation was watched by a lot of people. Everyone was hyped (not me in total, like I watched a long PR ad). And do you know how many people know about requirements after that? Maybe 1-3%. Rest of them are just waiting for W10 to be upgraded to W11. Because in that "ad", they didn't mentioned about requirements. Boy they will be pissed when they find out that they cannot upgrade. Maybe same or worse than W10 forced upgrade overnight. As we are now, who searched on info, when we found out about req.

And then we have one more thing. Obsolete hardware in 2025-2026 - a lot of eWaste. Like there is not much now, but we will sure make it more, and then send it to Africa, with other pile of junk that we make.

Do you ever wonder why there is no perfect hardware, from lightbulb to current best PC in the world? Money. That is why each year, yes....each year (maybe less), we have new models of phones, tablets, TV's, PC parts, Refridgerators, vacuum cleaners and so on and on, which uses marketing and hype to sell you. A neverending pattern that exists from long time ago.

When AMD was in trouble, From my 2nd gen CPU, up to 5th or 6th gen CPU, do you know how much increase was in power? About 20-30 percent. 3-4 years giving you something little on a teaspoon. Between 2nd and 10th gen there is incerase about in 70%, but on multicore. So that is on avg 9-10% in power increase.

So, nothing much changes in a year, not even in 5 years. When they can make at least 50% leap in two years, we can say "work well done". Everything else is just bull and PR marketing where new shampoo will take dandruff away. What was wrong with my previous version of shampoo? Or much anykind of shampoo?

Stop believing in PR, marketing and other hype and maybe world and companies will return to normal.

Improving security by 60% does nothing. Not even 100%. Because 100% is for the time being. It will take time for hackers to implement new viruses, which will bypass these things. It is inevitable. Next will be W12, where you cannot use CPUs below 11th gen because there are vulnerabilities? They will still exist no matter what is done. ...

And yes, this is marketing. When you force users to buy something that is not needed for most users or do not know how to use it.

Yes, this is exactly on point. We shouldn't just buy what the Microsoft apologists are selling. If the system is being set up to obsolete the vast majority of PC hardware every couple or three years, there's no way we should take that passively, like good lemmings.

Plus, all this talk about how nth gen processors are unacceptably slowed down is also nothing more than parroting what the Microsoft salesmen say. Nothing like actually verifying the claims. Plus, it also depends on what people do with their PCs. Performance is almost always a function of what specific apps we use, not the same across the board.

As I said, with all the hardware security features that Win11 requires switched on, my 6th gen Intel Core i7 works just fine and dandy. And many other people have said the same thing, with 6th gen or even older CPUs. No need to parrot Microsoft's sales pitches, for heaven's sake. Try it out!

Let's see it once, Windows 11 is for security, I know it is not possible to create an unhackable Windows or any other OS like that, or a fully encrypted OS, but if it reduces the malware, or creates a better-encrypted OS, that is at least better than nothing, because those 60% reduced malware are those which are the most common and somewhat medium level malware, and mostly which you told which come from email attachments, clicking online here and there, etc. meaning the chances of getting infected is reduced highly as the OS's security features will block that malware.

Secondly, it is everywhere on the internet how to turn on a TPM, secure boot, etc. and by default, these security features are by default on if they have them, and as most of the PC's in the world are pre-built, they can contact the manufacturer for help, for example, Dell, Asus or HP for any kind of help related with the device.

And people with Custom DIY PC's can contact local technicians or the manufacturer of their PC's hardware (in this case most likely Motherboard's manufacturer)

Third, 6th Gen and below processors are capable of running Windows 11, they don't have vulnerabilities, but because they will have all security features enabled on Windows 11, which they weren't designed for while not decreasing performance, performance will be reduced highly, as mentioned earlier Intel's 6th Gen processors faces around 30% lower performance when on Windows 11, and as you go lower performance decreases significantly and the users don't know much about computers with unsupported CPUs will directly upgrade, get slower performance, get their own work get done slower and then blame the OS or their PC, that is why there is a restriction so that people with none to less computer knowledge don't have to face these issues, and Windows 10 21H2 is specifically for those who cannot upgrade to Windows 11, which will bring security and performance improvements as much as possible.

Fourth point, for DirectX12 I mentioned, I am not sure, I don't even think it is required, it may be required for a special feature like Auto HDR, but I don't think so it is compulsory.

I am not supporting Microsoft or going against them, I am just telling my points, nothing else.
