Cannot see own wireless network but can see others around me

Hi Franco,

Thanks again for getting back to me. I reset the Node steering and Client Steering back to on (Bluetooth adapter is still disabled). Then went to Network and Internet --> Wi-fi --> Manage Known Networks. There is no option to "cancel storage". There is only one network on the list which is mine "Galahad" and clicking that gives the option "Properties" or "Forget". See screenshot.

I've tried the "forget" option (I've tried this before) but no luck. I do see a hidden network among the network profiles and have tried connecting to it, but that hasn't worked.

Bandwidth: Options are: 20_40MHz or 20MHz Only. Currently set at 20_40MHz

Beacon Interval: Value is set at 100

Preamble Mode: Options are: "Short & long" or "Long only". Currently set at "Short and long"

Roaming Sensitivity Level: Options are: Disabled, Low, Middle, High. Currently set at "Low"

Wake on Magic Packet: Options are: Enabled or Disabled. Currently set at Enabled

Wake on Pattern Match: Options are: Enabled or Disabled. Currently set at Enabled

Wireless Mode: Options are: Auto, IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11b/g. Currently set at "Auto"

Wifi Network adapters:

Work Laptop: Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230 (this one is not dual band as far as I know)

Partner's Laptop 1: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160

Partner's Laptop 2: Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265

I suspect you're right about compatibility issue between router and adapter (though still puzzling why I can't see my network even if I can't connect to it, but I can see all these networks around it)

I'm going to try to purchase a USB adapter.

I would like to point out that after making any changes I suggested and the problem still persists, that change must then be undone or restored, it seems quite intuitive to me. Then you can re-enable Bluetooth.

Have you tried to temporarily set up your wi-fi network in the Open network, as I have already suggested, and check if it works? You have not provided any response on the matter.

In the Advanced Settings of the wi-fi adapter, set the bandwidth to 20 MHz only. Try again.

In Wireless Mode, please try to set to IEEE 802.11b / g Retry. All other options are irrelevant.

Your partner's laptops work because her wi-fi adapters adopt the recent 802.11AC wi-fi standard.

You can see the other wi-fi networks in the area because surely these networks do not use the Wi-Fi 6 802.11AX standard or these networks use routers different from yours. In any case, if there is an incompatibility between your wi-fi adapter and your router, you can't even detect the wi-fi network.

Thanks again for getting back to me. I forgot to tell you that yes I did try setting up the Wi-fi in the Open network, and that did not result in any change. Tried the next two items you mentioned above. Neither of those worked. In the meantime I was able to purchase a wireless USB adapter (Linksys WUSB6100M Max-Stream™ AC600 Wi-Fi Micro USB Adapter). I have installed it and it WORKS! Thank goodness. At this point I'm just going to accept that the current network adapter and router are incompatible, and move on. It's too bad that adapter/driver hasn't been updated (maybe that's a technical manufacturing problem) I appreciate all your efforts/suggestions to find a solution for my issue. You were great!

I had exactly the same problem. I solved it by going in to my router (login as admin) and changed the wireless mode from 802.11ax to to another one such as 802.11b+g+n
