I was able to correct it by disabling the realtek device first and then updating driver for the Intel device on my network adapters list in the device managers. ( I guess this way it wouldn't show the realtek drivers like it showed you.)
When i selected the option of selecting from a list on my computer, it showed me 4 options, (3 with intel and 1 with microsoft) , and I selected the microsoft one.
And then automatically it started showing me my home internet connection WITHOUT having to restart the device.
(I know it's an old post but if anyone with the same problem stumbles upon this , do try this step)
Thanks
