KB5003690 BSOD

Not so fast! On installing this update.

Installed KB5003690 (tried) on five rigs. Three no issue, one refused to install, and worst of all one started BSOD constantly after installing. Removed from that rig and all was fine and returned to normal. Reinstalled KB5003690 to verify this was the issue and yes, the BSOD issues returned, again uninstalled and all returned normal again. I'm satisfied in saying that KB5003690 is / was the issue.

    I had this issue on one of my three computers (repeated BSOD about 15 minutes after boot). I uninstalled it from all three computers. I found a different post (link below) that said KB5004760 replaced KB5003690, but my windows update on all three computers keeps trying to install KB5003690 and does not provide an option for installing KB5004760.

    Update: Manually installed KB5004760 and the BSOD errors appeared. Like KB5003690, after removing KB5004760, the computer returned to normal/stable operations. Will not be installing KB5004760 or KB5003690 on any of my computers.

    Yup, I have the same problem....BSOD....System Service Exception, and Pagefile Sys errors. AMD FX 8370, 16 gb, Win 10 Pro, Nvidia GTX 970. This update also causes audio to drop on YouTube with Firefox and Chrome. No problem when using Edge on YT.

    Uninstalled KB5003690 and all is well again. ....No more BSOD.....No more problems with YT on Firefox and Chrome.

    Microsoft definitely has work to do!

    Unfortunately I also had exactly the same problem in Windows 10 21H1.

    I installed the qualitative update KB5003690 in three of my computers and obtained the following results.

    First computer: very long installation times, but after no problem.

    Second computer: installed on the fly and appropriately updated the OS version.

    Third computer (the most powerful): after installing the qualitative update KB5003690 I have had BSOD continuously, as never happened in years of Windows 10! Regardless of what I was doing, even with when the machine was resting.

    Now I'm trying to remove the KB5003690 package from the third computer, but the uninstall process proceeds very slow.

    glad to find this thread. i had the same problems with kb5003690. after installation my pc suddenly produced bsod errors all day long - i never had that kind of errors before. i uninstalled the update and all problems disappeared. until yesterday, windows update listed kb5003690 (in the optional section), now it suddenly disappeared, after microsoft started rolling out KB5004945. i really hope microsoft fixes the problems with kb5003690 and they do not make it mandatory till then - my computer was totally useless with kb5003690, which was really terrifying.

    Hey it's Roulette time!

    Download KB5004945 to see if it has been cleaned up. It does contain 3690 in it.

    If everyone gets the time let us know if the issues come back.

    Do yourself a favor people, back up before installing.
