KB5003690 BSOD

UPDATE: Installed the latest update on two laptops. One is a 1st Gen. i7, the other is 7th Gen. i7. On both Intel machines, I have had NO issues. Streaming YTube via Firefox and Chrome runs fine. Out of my 3 machines, the update only causes issues with my FX 8370.

I am now inclined to believe that the updates don't like AMD processors.....and again MS says nothing.

Although the one I have issues is an AMD, so are the other four that don't. Somewhere is a common denominator, but be damned I can't see it. YET. still looking.

OP had AMD too, lets wait until she installs the updated update, to see if she has sound issues, this sounds like a seperate issue tho.

Perhaps look into turning off / on WebRTC, try a different soundcard etc etc.

First of all, either (this is recommended) try making another account on your windows machine, install a completely fresh firefox there, no addons no nothing (DO NOT use the same profile as you do on your main), see if sound works, if not, turn off hardware acceleration in firefox, see if it works. If not, reboot, try again. Log out of your other windows account too, better yet, reboot into the other account (might be other programs what are taking priority / muting video in chrome / firefox)

If that doesnt help, you should probably start a new thread, as I doubt this is the same issue the rest of us are having.

I had the same issue with KB5004945, yet was able to uninstall with success and even better yet was able to hide the update from trying to reinstall using

wushowhide.diagcab. Yes, it will hide and prevent it from installing. You can search for it or go get it at "Major Geeks."

MS longer supplies this from what I understand.

My other rigs are also AMD. Some newer some older with no issues.

I have seen the update(s) go on about 20 desktops and laptops

(1) One computer that I support of course is the main business admin machine for a medium size business

Newer Dell / SSD Drive 1 / Mechanical Drive 2 / I5 9400 / Nvidia GPU

had installed 3690, BSOD problem went away after uninstalling thru safe mode

After last nights 4945, it took about 6 hours of use for me to get the call that it is happening again.

(as others have said, the offending module seems different on each BSOD)

Have just uninstalled 4945 through safe mode and used wushowhide to hide the update.

Let us hope Microsoft starts picking up on this.

I'm 2,5 hours in on KB5004945 no issues so far, using the comp via teamviewer to fake "normal use" while not actually using it, from time to time.
