i was going to say "i am not willing to test anything for MS anymore" and after seeing the replies here i am absolutely not installing their optional updates anymore. it's very discouraging to see the poor quality of the MS work lately.

Not so fast! On installing this update.
Installed KB5003690 (tried) on five rigs. Three no issue, one refused to install, and worst of all one started BSOD constantly after installing. Removed from that rig and all was fine and returned to normal. Reinstalled KB5003690 to verify this was the issue and yes, the BSOD issues returned, again uninstalled and all returned normal again. I'm satisfied in saying that KB5003690 is / was the issue.

Is there anybody who had problems who has tried the update on the same hardware after reinstalling windows, like on a fresh install?
This might not be hardware related...

I had the same issue with KB5004945, yet was able to uninstall with success and even better yet was able to hide the update from trying to reinstall using
wushowhide.diagcab. Yes, it will hide and prevent it from installing. You can search for it or go get it at "Major Geeks."
MS longer supplies this from what I understand.

Seems MS is trying to force us to use Edge to stream on YTube since YT audio drops when using Chrome and Firefox but NOT on Edge after installing the OS update. Since the security update 4945 was to plug a vulnerability with the print spooler, what are we to do now? Do we have to surrender to Edge in order to protect our machines from hackers via the print spooler, or leave ourselves vulnerable so we can enjoy the freedom to stream YT via the browser of our choice?

Even the one that got BSODs, sound was working fine in Firefox (which I use as my main browser).
Doesnt both Firefox and Chrome (Edge is based on chromium now too) use DirectSound or Direct Kernel streaming for audio?
If it worked on edge and on media players like VLC MPCHC...spotify etc, it should work on Firefox and Chrome.
