KB5003690 BSOD

Not so fast! On installing this update.

Installed KB5003690 (tried) on five rigs. Three no issue, one refused to install, and worst of all one started BSOD constantly after installing. Removed from that rig and all was fine and returned to normal. Reinstalled KB5003690 to verify this was the issue and yes, the BSOD issues returned, again uninstalled and all returned normal again. I'm satisfied in saying that KB5003690 is / was the issue.

    wushowhide.diagcab doesn't seem to work for me: i hid 4945 and it still shows up in windows update. even gave it a restart. it does not show up in the hide updates section and it does show up in the show updates section which makes me think wushowhide did it's thing, but windows update still sees it.

    unless i didn't understand how to use it, but it seemed straight fwd. i did turn OFF Apply repairs automatically in the advanced section.

    thoughts?

    i'm on an i7 7700HQ and had bsods with 3690 every half hour, so no, amd procs are not the common denominator

    I'm 2,5 hours in on KB5004945 no issues so far, using the comp via teamviewer to fake "normal use" while not actually using it, from time to time.

    Well, glad to hear you're not having sound issues on your AMD machines.

    I have seen the update(s) go on about 20 desktops and laptops

    (1) One computer that I support of course is the main business admin machine for a medium size business

    Newer Dell / SSD Drive 1 / Mechanical Drive 2 / I5 9400 / Nvidia GPU

    had installed 3690, BSOD problem went away after uninstalling thru safe mode

    After last nights 4945, it took about 6 hours of use for me to get the call that it is happening again.

    (as others have said, the offending module seems different on each BSOD)

    Have just uninstalled 4945 through safe mode and used wushowhide to hide the update.

    Let us hope Microsoft starts picking up on this.
