KB5003690 BSOD

I read a lot the last hours and it seems to me that microsoft really messed up the whole thing.

I gave KB5004945 a second try, this time the bsod occured only minutes after installation. As you can read in the second article, microsoft is about to fix (at least they try...) the printing issue via Known Issue Rollback (KIR). It wasn´t delivered to my pc so far (you can check that in the registry), so I will wait and see if that helps. If not, hopefully they will fix that on next tuesday.

Indeed I have not much hope, the KIR will solve my BSOD issues. Speaking fpr myself, the BSOD never occured in combination with any printing activities.

If nothing helps, I will uninstall the update again and try to hide it with wushowhide, as Heidi-Ann Fourkiller suggested. I already downloaded the tool. But before doing this, i will wait untill next Patchday-Tuesday.

I can hardly describe how annoyed I am.

Hello, my fellow Windows user,

First of all, for any update issues regarding the security or the cumulative updates, always ensure 3 critical component on the Windows update services list to be on or started, this includes Windows Update, Windows Installer, Background Iintelligent Transfer. It is advisable to keep this as Automatic if possible and also you may view these services on Task Manager. The next step is to go to Settings, search for Delete Temporary Storage and of course turn on the Storage Sense, and then go to Temporary Storage to initiate the service, which in the end you will need to Delete The Windows Log and all related temporary storage in it, as suggested by the system. Then you go to Windows Update and it should work like a charm, trust me, I was troubled by these for at least 7 months and ends up trying on bash scripting, reset redownload and all sort of things before settling with this method on Storage Sense as I am using HDD disk drive, I believe and hope it helps your cause. What do you think happens, that makes your pc better/faster/whatever, after "cleaning" the registry?

Lets say you have 500 "dead" entries, thats like .. 41KB of data "wasted" ( i made a notepad with 500 lines of random text, about 100 chars on each line, which is a lot larger than a registry is, of course) on your harddrive, lets say that gets loaded into RAM for some reason, thats 41KB of RAM less. And you have hundreds of thousands of active entries.

How much does your Wise registry cleaner use?

Lets say 50MB of RAM on startup (assuming you have it on startup) and 250MB on your system drive (if you have it there), so the program by itself, so the solution is thousands of times worse than the problems its "solved".

Not to mention you run the risk of actually making your registry corrupt and bricking your windows install.

Microsoft actually used to have a registry cleaner built into windows back in the days, but removed it since it caused more problems, than it solved, since people had over 10MB of hard drive space and 2MB of RAM.

I've upgraded to 20H2 three times, and on every occasion it's unreliable, with K Mode Exceptiom not handled error.

I've rebuilt from scratch aafter wiping the disk and same thing occurs. Win 7 installs OK and Unix from USB works fine. So it looks like an OS problem, specially as I have only an old version of office and smartsuite on.
