Old windows still there in another boot mode?

Hey, few days ago I had reinstalled windows on my PC from 32 bit to 64 bit but after that had to reset it cuz of start up issue.

But yesterday when I went to my bios( coz my cmos battery is damaged I had to put date and time and select "others" as my boot mode. There was another one bootmode called "windows 10 64-bit" that doesn't used to work but I remember I had installed my new windows in windows 10 64-bit mode and had to format my drives.)so yesterday when I went into my bios and selected "others" with uefi I went to repair mode and had startup error and when booting in from legacy I had the message "select or insert a bootable media and press a key" it was something like that. But after the installation I didn't had to go to my bios to select boot mode because it was alr selected to "windows 10 64-bit" mode. So the windows in my others is my old windows? Because If I reset it from repair mode to fix startup error will it be my old windows? Also will my data be in there, cuz I had formatted my drive while re-installing coz its a necessary step. So is it my old windows cuz I rlly rlly want it back. Booting from legacy says to put a bootable media and uefi takes me to repair screen as if there is windows there.

My 64bit windows is in other mode so yh if it is my old windows I'll reset from there and will I get my data too? And also if u have 2 windows in a PC and u format a drive from one windows does the storage of the other windows wipe out too.

Regards.

Thanks, Ruchi, now I understand a bit :)

If you Install 32-bit now, you would be able to use 3.21GB of RAM out of 4GB, as this is a design limitation. For 4 GB, we recommend 64 bit though.

If you still want to switch to 32-bit, use Rufus to create an Installation media, and in that, select MBR partition scheme for UEFI/BIOS. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create-bootable-usb-flash-drive-install-windows-10-a.html

In the BIOS menu, enable Legacy boot, disable UEFI, boot from the installation media, and install Windows. Please note that if currently the hard drive is configured as GPT, you need to format it. To check if the drive is configured as GPT or MBR, you can find it in the disk management>Right-click the drive>Properties.

OK, let me tell u everything in detail. when j didn't had installed new windows and was on 32 bit I had to boot into my bios everytime to boot cuz my cmos is battery is dead ig And had to set date and time and change my boot type from "windows 10 64 bit(name of the boot mode was that) " to "others" and I was only able to use legacy cuz uefi was not available. So during installation I used "windows 10 64 bit" mode to install windows and used diskpart. After that my cmos battery issue was solved. But my 64 bit windows is just not working properly and I am going back to 32 bit cuz I have only 4 gig's of ram,so after going in the bios I saw others had uefi mode. When I boot in to uefi I had startup error as if there was windows in there. After resetting it and resolving the startup error the same windows I had in "windows 10 64 bit" mode was in there it was completely the same and when I booted in "windows 10 64 bit" it had startup error as same as the other uefi mode had.... And "others-legacy" is empty so I wanna delete the windows which is in "windows 10 64 bit" and then install windows in "others" legacy mode because my laptop is 8 Years old (got it last year in may) but the specs are of low end. So please guide me accordingly.

My specs (if u need in case) ~

    CPU - amd a6 7310

    Gpu-radeon r4

    Ram - 4gigs

Mobo - acer one 14 z422 (that's what it said when I checked it)

    Regards.

Ruchi, there are no two installations on the computer. That is for sure.

How much RAM is on the device?

    • If it is 4 GB or greater, use 64 bit. No need to switch to 32 bit.
    • UEFI Installation is used in modern devices and is more secure than Legacy. If your PC came with W8 or later, it is in UEFI mode. You should not switch to Legacy. If Legacy is enabled in BIOS let me know.

Try using Recuva to recover your files. Perform a deep scan for better results.

OK I saw it up on Google and my laptop had only 2 drive and it was split into 2 apparently, so after the reinstall of 32 bit can I use a data recovery software to revive the data back? And also can u check the boot menu images also that I had provided, because there is no reply yet and what is supposed to do with it? Because there are 2 same windows in 2 different mode one in others uefi mode and one in windows 10 64 bit mode and legacy is empty? If I reset the one in others the one in windows 10 64 bit will get startup error and if I fix the error of this kne the others one will get startup error and I wanna delete the windows from the windows 10 64 bit and also the uefi mode as I will use legacy mode to boot in my device.

    Regards.

I had to do diskpart clean because I was not able to install windows on any of the partitions or drive and how can we split it and make it a D drive? Pretty sad that j cannot get my data but my laptop has 2 drives in the hardware so where is the another drive have they both became one? Or my laptop had always had 1 drive and it was just split.so does the data from the D drive that we will make will also be deleted during resetting or re-installing or just the c drive which is the original one
