I have 3 computers (2 desktops - 1 tablet). 1 of the desktops will NOT update. I've worked on it all week. I've tried the Assistant (multiple times), Media Creation (multiple times), clean boot, downloaded msi file (1 worked to get me into a stable v1909 build 18363.1350), rufus, jump drive, and mounting after download. And, of course, simply hitting the Check For Updates button doesn't work. It connects to the server and comes up with the "...you have the latest..." message. Strange how "this 1 desktop" can be up to date with 1909 when my other 2 computers are running 20H2!!!
The ONLY thing that worked with ONLY 1 file was to download an msi from the downloads in MS. That was for Cumulative Update 1909 - kb4598298.
EVERY time I try a method (each of which takes more than 2 hours to go through to the part where the system boots back to the desktop) I get the error that there was a boot error. I have gone through ALL of the instructions to see if any of the changes helps, but no. I still get the error that Windows cannot get past.
Even after I set up the computer for a clean boot, which is "supposed" to assure that there is nothing in the system conflicting with the update, NONE of the methods work.
You have links to the various updates. I'm going to try 1 that I see is only slightly newer than my 1909 version. If it works, it will be a miracle.
It would go a LONG way if Microsoft would simply admit that there is a problem with updates.
