This is a summary of the cumulative updates released on January 12th for all the supported consumer releases of Windows 10.

    they are trying to make  you update to cloud pc force updates make microsoft horrible

    yes, a very troubling matter given the millions of users around the globe.

    I've read through all posts here - and elsewhere - the issue is not fixable outside of Microsoft getting all bugs out and then re-releasing the fixed updates.

    You're not alone Keith. Thousands of people are having issues but unsure where and how to complain as Microsoft and many Tech giants go out of their ways to hide and make it difficult contacting them!

    As you can see, we, who are here, are the tip of the iceberg of the complainers but represent 1000's!  They got really incompetent moderators who are not helping and just keep emailing you the lame boiler plate top post of this forum by Sumit.

    The update doesn't happen at all for some of us. My PC downloads it but it breaks during update,  generates some random hex code error, it uninstalls it automatically and tells me to look up the useless hex code page on Microsoft. I've turned off all updates until end of Feb, hoping this issue gets fixed. But Microsoft refuses to recall this update or fix it as of yet.

    If the update proceeds to install "successfully", then you're one of the unlucky ones, as it wreaks havoc on many users' machines, from wiping their drivers, to BSOD, to erasing their entire machine, etc.

    You need to read through all the posts here to figure out your best solution or approach.

    Am I alone in this idiocy of Windows updates?

    NONE of the cumulative updates released by Microsoft since before January 2020 have successfully installed through Windows updates on my four different machines.

    Up until the release of V 20H2 in October 2020, the only way for me to install the cumulative update releases was by downloading the ISO and performing in-place upgrades on all four machines - an extremely time consuming and tedious exercise. But it worked.

    A number of further OS updates have now been released by Microsoft since October 2020. These have ALL consistently failed to install either through Windows updates or manually from the Windows calatogue with the ubiquitous error 0x800f081f.

    None of the dozens of suggestions and published 'fixes' for this error do anything at all.

    And lo and behold, the Windows download ISO and Update Assistant page is still stuck on offering the October 2020 release and so cannot be used to perform any in-place upgrade.

    Just what is going on ?
