2021-01-23T14:14:12+00:00 Hi,
I have had major issues caused by KB4598229, resulting in my laptop freezing during the update process, restarting and only booting into either an unresponsive home screen (cursor but no programs, task manager or Windows button will work resulting in a hard reboot) or a black screen with cursor.
Following a number of attempts, i have managed to get the system running (multiple restarts, including into repair mode to try a resest which didn't work, into safe mode to disable the graphics drivers, into safe mode to run chkdsk resulting in a failure to write to the log 50, sfc which resulted in errors as well).
The update was eventually removed by rebooting multiple times and leaving the laptop alone for 5 hours. This resulted in a working system however this update is still showing as failed. Even clearing the update folders and restarting Windows updates results in a failure. Downloading the update manually also fails to install it.
Is there any other way to correct these issues? The laptop is fully patched up to this point.
