driver updates greyed out

when  i go to windows update history nothing shows up, and  drivers are greyed out. is there something wrong

 what do i need to do?

    Mary,

    This is not a total reinstall, it is a Repair Upgrade to keeps the files, apps and settings in place and is the most stable method to change to the latest version. It avoids problems that WIndows Update can cause, takes about an hour, solves most problems like not getting Updates.

    If i am afraid to do a simple  update install i surly will not not  attempt  to do this. So now every update has to be done that way .i can ot just install  an update i have to do this everytime so now if   i should decide to  do the 20h 2 update  i need to do this as well? than  i guess ill have to not update anymore   i have no way to back  up any thing. No external hrd drive no flash drive and one drive is over capacity . That is aodd and crazy way to get updates. thanks  unless i have  atech do this a and find me a way to save everything than nope  ill  just live with this  . But  i do appreciate your time and effort and all your help. I would not even know how to   do the  repair up grade even if  i wanted to. Guess ill go back to my windows 7 then and forget about any  windows 10 updates. if this has to be done for every update.  I f i want to do this Ill have  a tech do it  that can back up my data  and apps and files.  You have been great and went out of your way to help me but i am not going to attempt this  .especially  after  I just had a reinistall  less than  month ago. trying to do  the update of 20H2

    i have no way to   do this any way no external flash drive drive no  scan disc and one drive is   at its max. so i hve no way to back up anything. plus which  i do not have  enough space  to do it  on my C drive.

    No, Mary, I only gave you the manual method to change versions so you could update to an older version than 20H2. You don't have to do the other ones that way. You said yourself that 20H2 is queued by Windows Update to install on your PC. You can wait a few months and try it again. If it causes problems ask here for help to sort out the problems, and if not then roll it back again in Recovery Settings, or the Repair Mode via https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2294-advanc.... You can always roll back a Version Upgrade but I'd try to fix them first, which we can help you with.

    Google Drive allows 15gb so you can back up what you can't fit in OneDrive there if you don't have an external USB drive big enough.
