driver updates greyed out

If i am afraid to do a simple  update install i surly will not not  attempt  to do this. So now every update has to be done that way .i can ot just install  an update i have to do this everytime so now if   i should decide to  do the 20h 2 update  i need to do this as well? than  i guess ill have to not update anymore   i have no way to back  up any thing. No external hrd drive no flash drive and one drive is over capacity . That is aodd and crazy way to get updates. thanks  unless i have  atech do this a and find me a way to save everything than nope  ill  just live with this  . But  i do appreciate your time and effort and all your help. I would not even know how to   do the  repair up grade even if  i wanted to. Guess ill go back to my windows 7 then and forget about any  windows 10 updates. if this has to be done for every update.  I f i want to do this Ill have  a tech do it  that can back up my data  and apps and files.  You have been great and went out of your way to help me but i am not going to attempt this  .especially  after  I just had a reinistall  less than  month ago. trying to do  the update of 20H2

This is not a total reinstall, it is a Repair Upgrade to keeps the files, apps and settings in place and is the most stable method to change to the latest version. It avoids problems that WIndows Update can cause, takes about an hour, solves most problems like not getting Updates.

oh well then if  i have to reinstall the operating system just for an update then  Ill keep it as it is  i just had the entire  thing reinstalled in  early december. I can not just get an y update  i can not just install the 20h2 as just an update either  i have to doa reinstall for that too . that is a crazy way to  get updates.  Thanks

It is a reinstall but it saves your files, apps and most settings in place.

But Your files should always be backed up because a hard drive can die at any time without notice. Some suggestions to help ease into this habit:

1. You can sync your Desktop, Documents and Pictures folder using OneDrive Backup, or just drag valuable files into OneDrive folder, offering 5gb free with additional space for cheap: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/116029-turn...
2. Google Drive has a new Backup that allows you to choose User folders (Documents, Pictures, etc.) to sync up to 15gb for free to their cloud in real time so it always has the latest version. https://www.google.com/intl/en-GB_ALL/drive/dow...
3. In addition I'd have an on-site hard copy backup. The best way to do this is to sort all of your files into their User folders and then drag or copy them to another hard drive, USB external or flash drive. 4. Besides your files you should save a System Image back up to use in place of reinstall in 20 minutes. The best free alternative is Macrium: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/7363/macrium-ref... You can even use the Macrium program to mount and extract files from this image so it can serve as both image and file backup too.
