It is very discomforting to see that relatively simple and ubiquitous peripherals like mice and keyboards can interfere with the OS so badly. Disabling HID devices is a poor workaround for something that MS should fix in the OS or the OEM manufacturers like RAZER should comply with MS specs. But then you have a MS intellimouse freezing the taskbar on an MS OS, it seems that MS itself has an internal interoperability problem.
Switching between user logins freezes taskbar
The case:
My wife and I share the same home PC for work, that we use independently throughout the day. We would like to be able to switch between our users without having to log out and close/reopen our respective documents and apps. Kinda like how it works on a Mac when you switch between multiple active user login sessions.
The Problem:
Whenever we try to use the "Switch User" functionality, the taskbar freezes (doesn't load) on whichever user you switch to. The only way to unfreeze the taskbar is to log out completely on one user (and subsequently close all apps/documents), and then login to the other user afterwards.
What I have tried:
- A fresh Windows install
- Add a new and fresh user (stops working after a reboot)
- Running DISM.exe /CheckHealth, /ScanHealth, /RestoreHealth
- sfc /scannow
Extra info:
Both users have Admin account type and our Windows 10 is updated to the latest version.

2021-09-01T05:24:41+00:00 Brand new Alienware Aurora R12 - I have this same problem with both my Naga Pro mouse and my Huntsman TE keyboard. Through much trial and error, I narrowed it down to those 2 specific pieces of hardware. Other Razer peripherals I own do not cause this issue.
The problem occurs with either the Razer Naga Pro mouse OR the Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition are connected. When BOTH are connected, the problem is worse. Logging out before logging into a different account (slow user switching) will sometimes, not always, cause the same issue. I stopped using fast-user switching for now, which is a bit of an inconvenience.
Having Fast Startup enabled will occasionally (not always) cause the same problem at login after a startup. I disabled Fast Startup which eliminates this issue. Disabling fast startup is not an issue for me.
It is really irritating to spend this much money on (supposedly) quality peripherals only to be limited in my computing experience by (obviously) inferior products. Fast user switching is one of the hallmarks of Windows, yet Razer cannot seem to bring themselves to support it. Not to mention the aggravation and time wasted trying to figure out what the cause of the problem is.

2021-08-01T19:18:27+00:00 Thank you so much for your post. I was able to find all HID-compliant devices for Razer products (by VID and PID, mine are different from yours), disabled them all, problem solved. What a relief, we've been frustrated by this bug for months!
It's interesting that these particular drivers appear to be by Microsoft. I wonder if that has something to do with why neither Microsoft nor Razer seems to have taken action. "It's their hardware"/"It's their driver"
Happily, my Razer keyboard and mouse both continue to function.
Steve,
You can enable each one (one-by-one) testing between and isolate specific bad driver(s). Time consuming, but I found I need only one driver disabled with new Razer keyboard, mouse, and headset.

2021-06-10T21:48:03+00:00 Same problem here with my deathader v2 mouse.
If I plug my Logitech mouse instead no problem.
Submitted a support ticket to razer, the more of us do, the better of a chance we’ll have to fix the problem.
