Sharper Image Weather Station EC-WS115 not updating

Thanks to this community, I have found the software for the Sharper Image EC-WS115, and I've learned how to deal with its USB issues under Windows 10.

But, it stopped updating the forecast on November 30th, 2020.

The 5-day forecast software gives me an error saying "Cannot connect to server. Please try again later" whenever I try to update the forecast.

Is anyone else having this issue, or just me? Has Foreca shut down the server used to feed information to these devices?

I don't want to send this device to a landfill.

I finally had some success this morning utilizing a workaround that was developed with a lot input from a number of people.  I've created a step-by-step guide as to what I did to get my Sharper Image EC-WS115 5-Day weather forecast station up and running again after the server quit working back on November 30th.  If you use Windows, then this solution should work.  I just got it working this morning, so I haven't fully tested it yet to see if it automatically updates like it used to or if there are any bugs in the code.  If you're interested in taking a peak at the process (5 steps), then download the zip file containing all the files you will need to make it work.  The step-by-step guide is a filed titled 'Read Me.pdf'.  Thanks to all those who did the hard work by decompiling and writing new code in order to make it work.  The zip file can be downloaded here (just click on 'download' in the upper-left-hand corner):

Can anyone put a detailed process on how to get the weather station up and running.  I have downloaded the zip files, gone to Weatherbit and got my personal number.  But , I cannot find the file folders that I have to copy other files to.. please help me.  I want  to get my weather station back on line.  Thanks!

Good morning Michael, as Eric mentioned in another post, check the ReadMe.pdf file that has step-by-step instructions on where everything goes.  Here's also a link to a 27-minute video tutorial that steps through each step in detail.  Hope this helps.  Happy New Year!

Ditto here - can't access servers as of 12/5/2020 or so.  Went through the same thing as others did in 2017, only thing that worked was patience.  Installed 1.01 s/w on another computer, got same "Cannot connect...".  Apparently not a Win release problem

    • go same message on Win7 & Win10 computers.   Are others also holding out hope it'll somehow resolve itself?  SI Customer Service says to wait 'n see - it could be a server update is in play (but then, he also said the unit's no longer under warranty)... @;-(

btw:  *.netinfostation.com servers all still exist as  58.177.63.69 but time out w/PING command when trying to connect to them.

We should have started a fan club years ago - lol.  It seems that we all get together around this time of year each year or so with the same recurring issue of data blackout.  There's still quite a few devices out there and I personally love mine and have never been able to find anything like it.  I remember a few years ago that the problem was rooted back to one person going on vacation for two weeks and the server crashed while he was away.  When he came back, he rebooted and everything was good again.  Thinking that it was almost the exact same timeframe again, I thought maybe the same thing was happening.  After reading the posts here though, it sounds like that is probably not the case.  I remember there was someone on one of the forums that was a programmer and was trying to reverse-engineer the software so that it could just scrape the data from any weather site.  I wish I could find him and see if he ever got anywhere with it.

Anyway, fearing the inevitable, I did a quick search this morning and found a 3-day weather forecast device.  It's not 5 days, but it's all that I could find.  I'm going to wait another week or two and hold out hope before I replace my Sharper Image device.  https://www.amazon.com/Colored-Display-Digital-Weather-Temperature/dp/B088VJB33Y/ref=asc\_df\_B088VJB33Y/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=459769377338&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8052971564963104804&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1015089&hvtargid=pla-945248766431&psc=1

Thanks to everyone for their input.  Scott

Have the same problem..... this has Happened numerous times over the last 4 - 5 years, always in the December time frame.  Hopefully it will come back on.  If you search around, this problem has been noted many, many times.  Fingers crossed the site comes back up.
