Cumulative update December 2020 - KB4592438 Failed to install

I am trying to install KB4592438 for Windows 10 20H2. The patch is downloaded without any issue. But the installation fails and the screen starts showing - Undoing changes Don't turn off your computer. The error message is - Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: (0x80070003).

    I had tried DISM and SFC, standalones to no effect.

    What worked was uninstalling the 20H2 enablement (KB4562830) and then using the 20H2 MCT and doing the in-place upgrade.

    19042.685 installed.

    French user so sorry for my english spoken.

    Same problem with my windows 20H2

    MSI X470 R5 3600 Nvidia 1060 3Go

    All drivers up to date (even bios)

    Tried all methods given on the net, also tried the software Reset Windows Update Tolls which seems to be good to solve update problems.

    Tried to uninstall severals programs (Vmware or Cyberghost) but still no way .

    Failed again with the stand alone update : download 100% installing 100% and.... Fail!

    All updates before (during 2 years ) were fines but this is the first one wihch is problematic.

    Update micosoft antivirus today via Windows update was fine too.

    Hi All,

    same problem with KB4592438 but with Error 0x80070002 ,   coming from  version 19042.630 ,  several attempts with DISM and SFC  but no success, nor offline KB4592438 installation. WU stopped working

    After reading a lot on the web I tried this metod here found on this link

    Error 0x80070002 - Windows Update - Microsoft Community:

    Open administrative Command Prompt and type following commands one-by-one followed by Enter key.

    net stop wuauserv

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

    Ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old

    Ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 Catroot2.old

    net start wuauserv

    net start cryptSvc

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

    Close Command Prompt and see if Windows Updates works then

    The two ren commands did not work for me since the paths were not found on my machine so I skipped them

    After closing the command prompt I relaunched the Windows Updates procedure, KB4592438 was downloaded. Did a restart and at the end the update was successfully installed, now I am with 19042.685.

    I have already tried this method, with also the two "ren" lines that didn't worked.

    I thougth maybe the solution was with the 2 files "Softwaredistribution" and "Catroot2"

    So i dicided to boot on linux (i have dual boot on my system)

    I deleted Softwaredistribution and Catroot2 under linux. Restarted windows, windows update and again the same error message about this Kb.

    Package KB4592438 failed to be changed to the Installed state. Status: 0x800f0922.

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X

    MB: ASUS TUF GAMING B550-PLUS (WI-FI)

    Update breake down.

    I have no time to googel for hours to solve such problems.

    I am not the problem.

    The windows programmers are the problem. They earn much money, so they can fix there bad programming.

    I am a Programmer too.

    I studied computer science, but that was the biggest mistake.

    My nerves are totally ruined

    Waiting for any updates for hours.

    What worked yesterday no longer works today.

    Did I study to fix every time such errors?

    Please Help
