Downloading pictures wont save in folder by date

microsoft think thEy own your pc just because of windows. they keep changing things to make it worse and not better. my next computers are going to be apple from now on. done with MS BS! I WANT MY PICTURES DOWNLOADED TO A FOLDER WITH THE DATE TAKEN JUST LIKE IT USED TO. NOT SPENDING HOURS SORTING PICTURES. LEAVE MY COMPUTER ALONE PLEASE!

Hi Devinwolf. My post above has a link with a solution. Use File Explorer to do the import not Photos. 

Of course that's beside the point.

Microsoft used to allow you to do this with Photos. Now they clearly believe that it is better for the algorithms they create arbitrarily to organize them for you virtually, rather than actually having some organization that you can even use across operating systems. 

Overwhelmingly, people want this option back. Although there are extraordinary solutions that can be achieved with other means, Microsoft used to have it as the default code. Now it isn't even an option.  Furthermore, every subsequent update defaults things according to the way they want you to do it.

Microsoft, once again, imagines that all of its customers are programmers who delight in the exact same methods of organization as their Artificial Intelligence. 

I guess they want endless class action suits. This is exactly the behavior that leads to them. 

Here's another angle:

I provide service to the end user. Many of my clients are elderly. They couldn't care less how well a computer can sort through images and arrange them according to face recognition. They want to be able to file their Reno pictures in a Reno folder. Failing that, they want them in folders based on date. Plus, they want everything that happened in Vegas to stay in Vegas (if you know what I mean). In order to accommodate that, they have to hire someone to help them organize, and teach them how to use whatever system has been added, or how to respond to the Microsoft algorithms. Guess what? It costs them money to hire someone to do that. If Microsoft left well enough alone, they wouldn't have to pay someone to help them. 

Microsoft, stop forcing end users to have to get into the minds of programmers and AI enthusiasts.

People will end up going to programs like Picasa, and then signing on to the class action suits when they happen. 

Mind-boggling.

Thanks Cameron for your helpful comments. I've just uploaded abut 4 months of mobile pics and noticed all the pics. were in file manager but not in the usual folders. They are all in the Photos App there doesn't seem to be a way to get them to File Manager.  Grateful to pick up this thread but is MS listening!!!     

Anyway of direct contact with them?.

YES!!!  Why did it just STOP downloading into folder by date,  its awful!!!  Is there a fix???

Thanks for your comments on this problem - so well explained.  I used to use Picasa but I thought it no longer in use?  I have been driven crazy with this new and awful way that my photos are dumped into My Pictures (even that I had to change as MS had changed the destination and I didn't notice at first - took me ages to find the pcitures!I)

I often have quite large numbers of photos taken over perhaps a week or more and find it so difficult now to sort, save and organise.  Like several other people on this feed I use my photographs for my (artistic) work and it has become an absolute nightmare trying to find things.

I have always been against going over to Apple but I am seriously considering it now

I tried something like that - change destination folder - but it didn't work.  I'll try to follow your steps next.

This was not a solution for photo downloads that are from multiple days and/or events.

The photos are still all dumped into a single fold for me to have to create separate folders later. Then, I have to cut and paste the photos into each folder manually. It was easier before this supposed upgrade. It is more like a downgrade.

Do better in the next update Microsoft. In the mean time, I am searching for a better software program that will do what I want it to do. 👍
