Downloading pictures wont save in folder by date

It's a sad state of affairs that some of us have to use Windows as an OS because of the programs we want to run, but MS can't leave good things alone.

I found a solution that works great for me, it goes back to using the Win7 Import Pictures and won't open the Photo app which I never cared to use.  Scroll down to "Restore “Import pictures and videos” AutoPlay Option in Windows 10" on this page:

Microsoft wants you to use OneDrive.... wait.... they DON'T want you to use OneDrive because your phot folder is too big... WAIT.... they WANT you to use OneDrive and pay for more storage for your photos.

That's what it comes down to, and it's obscene.

It is 04-04-2021 and this is still a problem when using the Photo App.

Microsoft please re-enable the feature to import photos to folders by just date please.

microsoft think thEy own your pc just because of windows. they keep changing things to make it worse and not better. my next computers are going to be apple from now on. done with MS BS! I WANT MY PICTURES DOWNLOADED TO A FOLDER WITH THE DATE TAKEN JUST LIKE IT USED TO. NOT SPENDING HOURS SORTING PICTURES. LEAVE MY COMPUTER ALONE PLEASE!

Hi Devinwolf. My post above has a link with a solution. Use File Explorer to do the import not Photos. 

Of course that's beside the point.

Microsoft used to allow you to do this with Photos. Now they clearly believe that it is better for the algorithms they create arbitrarily to organize them for you virtually, rather than actually having some organization that you can even use across operating systems. 

Overwhelmingly, people want this option back. Although there are extraordinary solutions that can be achieved with other means, Microsoft used to have it as the default code. Now it isn't even an option.  Furthermore, every subsequent update defaults things according to the way they want you to do it.

Microsoft, once again, imagines that all of its customers are programmers who delight in the exact same methods of organization as their Artificial Intelligence. 

I guess they want endless class action suits. This is exactly the behavior that leads to them. 

Here's another angle:

I provide service to the end user. Many of my clients are elderly. They couldn't care less how well a computer can sort through images and arrange them according to face recognition. They want to be able to file their Reno pictures in a Reno folder. Failing that, they want them in folders based on date. Plus, they want everything that happened in Vegas to stay in Vegas (if you know what I mean). In order to accommodate that, they have to hire someone to help them organize, and teach them how to use whatever system has been added, or how to respond to the Microsoft algorithms. Guess what? It costs them money to hire someone to do that. If Microsoft left well enough alone, they wouldn't have to pay someone to help them. 

Microsoft, stop forcing end users to have to get into the minds of programmers and AI enthusiasts.

People will end up going to programs like Picasa, and then signing on to the class action suits when they happen. 

Mind-boggling.

I'm not sure what happened but usually I can download pics from sd card and they go to a folder with the date.  Now each pic is saved individually.  How can I get it back to the way it was before.

Hi folks. While it makes sense for Windows to give you these download options in Photo, and you can do this if you download fro File Explorer rather than Photos. 

I found this app that will automatically reorganise your photo that have already been imported into the Pictures folder, into date taken folders. Has free and $8.99 versions. NOTE I haven’t tried this yet so don’t know how good it is.
