Downloading pictures wont save in folder by date

This was not a solution for photo downloads that are from multiple days and/or events.

The photos are still all dumped into a single fold for me to have to create separate folders later. Then, I have to cut and paste the photos into each folder manually. It was easier before this supposed upgrade. It is more like a downgrade.

Do better in the next update Microsoft. In the mean time, I am searching for a better software program that will do what I want it to do. 👍

I am well-acquainted with all the ways to do it. That's beside the point. I won't re-post what I already posted in bulleted form, but, when I upgraded to Windows 10, Microsoft made changes without my permission, importing my photos, documents, email pst and ost files etc to OneDrive, and then blamed me for incompatibility with OneDrive and tried to get me to purchase larger storage to accommodate their movement of all the "library" directories to OneDrive. ALL without my permission. I never wanted them on OneDrive. 

The Photos app and the libraries sync to OneDrive, EVEN WHEN I UNINSTALL ONEDRIVE. Any time there is a Windows update, that defaults their way, over and over again, and I have to manually change it. EVERY TIME.

I plug in a device, such as my phone, and even when I have unlinked it permanently from Photos, it STILL wants to sync with Photos via OneDrive. When I bought earlier versions of Office, I got OneDrive along with it, including a promise that I would not have to pay anything for storage, and that OneDrive would remain a part of it. They lied about that. There are a number of really good articles about this scam from Microsoft. 

The evidence is overwhelming what people want, but Microsoft is too obtuse and stubborn to honor what people overwhelmingly want.

I am being compensated for some of their excesses regarding Windows, Office, etc. in a gigantic class action suit. I will be watching for a hawk for the next round, which will undoubtedly involve the way they are manipulating their product and my use to force us into the way they want, once again. I will be watching for their practices on Edge, Cortana, libraries, aps, file explorer, indexing, and more. Maybe they will start paying attention if people pay attention to the class action.

I have gotten quite angry with them, because they give me a shut up response to every legitimate inquiry. The end of the discussion is the one that invites ALL of the class action: "We're sorry you feel that way, but that's the way it is, and we can't help you."

In summary, it ought not be what we have to do to circumvent their hijacking of our organization of our own data and control of our own data. They simply don't have my permission to do that. And the courts will keep reaffirming that they can't take a stranglehold on our use of our computers and our data.

Thanks very much for your comprehensive response Cameron Engel. I, like you, will look for alternates. After all I am the customer and I am not interesting in folding in to what Microsoft wants. Shame on them. Your response was super comprehensive and useful. I hope someone in leadership reads it and takes appropriate action. Makes me wonder what leadership does in boardrooms......

Thanks to everyone who has brought this frustrating issue to Microsoft's attention. I'm doing historical research ...  and manually creating folders, then moving images into them, has become a hugely time consuming activity. I'm exploring my Apple options after decades as a Microsoft user.

This is an update problem. I was having having this problem like the rest of you on my main computer. After spending lots of time trying to correct it I decided to get out another computer that I us mainly when I travel. I took a few pictures and downloaded from the chip and it put the pictures in a dated album. So I started looking at what the difference in settings might be between computers. I was interrupted for several hours and when I came back my travel compute must have updated because now it acts like my main computer when loading pictures.
