Downloading pictures wont save in folder by date

before i would insert sd card  I would save photos they would go straight to folder with the date i took the pictures.  now they are single pics, each pic has its own thumbnail instead of being in a folder.

This wont help if you are importing more than one month- or at least you would have to do this drawn out procedure for every month you are adding and select the proper photos for each month where it used to be done automatically.

Microsoft why do you like to screw up something that has been working for many years?

Does anyone have an alternative to the bloated and unstable MS Photos app?

1. They want to force us to use Bing.
2. They want to force us to use OneDrive
3. They want their algorithms to sort everything, instead of our sorting everything.
4. They want us to use Window indexing
5. They want us to use ALL of their interfaces, such as their photos, their music,, their documents, etc.
6. They want us to use the cloud

That's not their choice to make for me.

They should have learned all this decades ago with their attempts to force us to use Internet Explorer, and MSWord, and any number of other suites.

Here's the thing:

My pictures are not abstract for me. I didn't take the pictures with any Windows product, and I am not editing or sorting them with a Windows product. Microsoft does not understand me better than I understand myself. And Microsoft certainly does not have a better idea of how my pictures should be sorted than I do. Dates are embedded in EXIF when everything is working properly. But things don't always work properly. Sorting by date is the best failsafe for me. And not the sorting by date where AI determines the date without actually sorting the files.

I have had hard drive failures, and have recovered files without all of the embedded information. With Microsoft's new system, they get screwed up, and I have to be a detective to re-sort them. However, I don't have to if they are actually in dated folders, because the folder hierarchy survives, even if the embedded information doesn't.

But, more to the every day point, I don't always want the OS to do the searching and organizing for me. And millions of others agree with me.

MICROSOFT, RESTORE THE FOLDER ORGANIZATION BY DATE OPTION ON IMPORT

Microsoft, you already are having to pay out many millions in class action because you have decided that we will use, AND PAY FOR, your products, without our permission. How many more class action lawsuits before you get the message that people are not your pawns to manipulate how you choose?

LINSTEN TO YOUR CUSTOMERS, and let THEM decide how things ought to be organized. I get that AI is sexy. But I have much more mundane, practical needs. If I copy files from one drive to another, it's on MY terms, not yours.

Otherwise, one by one, your infrastructure will be replaced by other programs that operate the way they should. I have already replaced the indexer with a better product. I have replaced the registry search interface with a better product. I have not used your photo editor for a very long time. Nor your media player, nor your security, nor many other things.

Back to photos. Often I want to do a visual search, within the parameters of a certain time/date stamp. I used to be able to easily do that by going to the folders created at the time. Now, YOU choose. And you choose without giving me any options., and just dump them into one big pool. I'm not in love with that. As with other people who have also posted, it is make work for us. Now we have to re-organize EVERY BLASTED TIME we import.

Stop thinking like programmers, and start thinking like a service provider.

So frustrating - it was working like a champ, now it takes manual labor and time to get the same results.  ****?

Thank you very much for your feedback.  Presently, I am doing the same thing, creating folders manually.  Unfortunately we are in 

building envelope restoration and we take countless pictures our periods of time for the same project and this operation is time consuming and

counterproductive.

I hope Microsoft will consider reinstalling this feature soon.  Removing a feature that works well and saves time seems amateurish

at best.
