Repeated crashes and BSOD on ASUS TUF A15

Hello,

Several months ago I bought an gaming laptop, an Asus TUF A15 FA506IV with Windows 10 installed. Everything was fine in the first weeks, but then my computer started to crash and get BSOD randomly, except when I'm playing or using it intensively, which is weird.

I've tried everything, ranging from reinstalling drivers, to a complete reset and windows install.

I've checked RAM, disk and system files integrity, tried multiple repair tools, both Microsoft and unofficial, multiple times, installed every single driver based on Windows Update recommendations/constructor website, even used driver verifier, but nothing has changed since.

The only thing that sometimes changes is the error message of the bluescreen, when there's one. Often the screen only goes completly black, and nothing else happens.

Oh, and I can't show any memory/crash dump since nothing is generated.

Is there anything else to do, or is my computer doomed to be returned to the vendor ?

Update: Since installing the latest AMD Chipset Driver (3.08.17.735) the Black/Green Screen of Death has increased in frequency from once per month to about 6 times per day.

Note that since my last post I've had the pseudo GSoD on about 10 occasions. So while the frequency has certainly been reduced, the issue persists.

I have been following posts like these for about a year now since I got the computer and nothing worked.

BUT THIS DOES. Look a few posts up where people say to download the Ryzen Controller and change the settings. I am on mobile so I can't check right now but:

Nothing worked ever until this. It's been a week or more with 100% stability and no problems whatsoever. I didn't change or uninstall any drivers or mess with any hidden expert level settings like people are saying to do.

Just download Ryzen controller and follow the posted instructions and it works. Like a charm. Can't thank you guys enough. Finally after a whole year I have a real laptop again.

Bear in mind that this isn't an actual solution so much as a makeshift workaround that defeats the purpose of having a CPU of such caliber to begin with. If I wanted to limit my CPU's TDP to 12w and clock to >3.2k Ghz I would have bought a budget ~$300 laptop with an i3, and not a month's worth of salary for a borderline flagship like this.

hello, recently i got rid of this problem
but reduce some of it's performance

    i think it's a heat issue on A15 laptop

    here's my solution

    1. Install Ryzen controller
      https://gitlab.com/ryzen-controller-team/ryzen-controller/-/jobs/1220935756/artifacts/browse/dist/win/
    2. set CPU TDP (W) to 12
    3. set CPU TDP Boost (W) to 12
    4. right click on battery icon
    5. power option
    6. change plan settings
    7. change advanced power setting
    8. processor power management
    9. maximum power state set to 100%
    10. minimum power state set to 80%

well it will limit the cpu performance to 3GHz - 3.2GHz

but at least it's BSOD free

Can you (and @disinibale) confirm you still have no issues on this front? Also, friendly reminder to make sure you had the same issue, as the issue I'm referring to is not an actual BSOD, otherwise it'd be in the event viewer.

Hello, I have a similar problem.

I just bought an ASUS TUF A15 F506IU using an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H and GTX 1660TI.

For the past week I've been encountering BSODs with ntoskrnl.exe being the cause, I've removed the ram stick by moving to another slot but in the end it still produces a BSOD error. After investigating the error I encountered, I finally found a solution that hopefully can help you.

Here are the steps I took to solve the problem :

    1. Uninstall Every AMD Drivers including AMD Crash Defender, Chipset and Graphic
    2. Don't restart your PC
    3. Install every of AMD Drivers manually from the official website.
    4. Follow every step from the installation

And that's what I can do to solve the problem with the ntoskrnl.exe BSOD

I Hope might this help you.
