Repeated crashes and BSOD on ASUS TUF A15

Hello,

Several months ago I bought an gaming laptop, an Asus TUF A15 FA506IV with Windows 10 installed. Everything was fine in the first weeks, but then my computer started to crash and get BSOD randomly, except when I'm playing or using it intensively, which is weird.

I've tried everything, ranging from reinstalling drivers, to a complete reset and windows install.

I've checked RAM, disk and system files integrity, tried multiple repair tools, both Microsoft and unofficial, multiple times, installed every single driver based on Windows Update recommendations/constructor website, even used driver verifier, but nothing has changed since.

The only thing that sometimes changes is the error message of the bluescreen, when there's one. Often the screen only goes completly black, and nothing else happens.

Oh, and I can't show any memory/crash dump since nothing is generated.

Is there anything else to do, or is my computer doomed to be returned to the vendor ?

I am following this thread for quite a while and I guess the best solution that works for me is turning off the LINK STATE POWER MANAGEMENT. Also, I noticed that that the Asus armoury crate turns this on automatically on their software thus I uninstalled it also. I haven't experienced the greenscreen/BSOD after doing these until I reinstalled the armoury crate again. Thus, this experience backed up my theory that the PCI express Link state power management causes the random restarts.

    HOW TO FIX !

I did Steps 1-5. I have not had a blue screen or any crashes for months now. Laptop has been running stable.

I hope this helps someone out! (Windows 11)

    1. My ASUS
      • BIOS Update
        • Restart
    2. Search: "Graphics Settings"
      • choose an app.exe to set performance preference to "High Performance"
        • example. Browse - Program Files - Google - Chrome - Application - choose "chrome.exe"
          • then go to "Options" under Chrome
                            - select "High Performance"

    3. My ASUS
      • Hardware Settings
        • Battery Health Charging
          • Balanced Mode 80% max
    4. Turn off Link State Power Management -Control Panel
      	- System and Security

      		- Power Options

      			- choose High Performance

      				- Change Plan Settings

      					- Change Advanced Power Settings

      						- PCI Express

      							- "Link State Power Management" OFF

    5. Change MIN/MAX Power State:
      • Control Panel
        • System and Security
          • Power Options
            • choose High Performance
              • Change Plan Settings
                • Change Advanced Power Settings
                  • Processor Power Management
                    • Min Power State 99%
                    • Max Power State 100%

IF THE ABOVE DOES NOT WORK, ALSO DO THIS (I have not had to do these last two steps):

    1. Disable "Fast Boot"
      • search "cmd" for Command Prompt
        • Right click and "Run as Administrator"
          • type "hibernate off" or "powercfg -h off"
            • press ENTER and close Command Prompt
    2. Install RYZEN CONTROLLER:
      • Set CPU TDP(W) to 12
      • Set CPU TDP Boost(W) to 12

At least with this laptop it seems hardware related. Driver updates don't seem to have any effect.

Some people fixed the problem with changing power, link state, etc. settings (see some of my posts) and other people replaced hardware - memory, RMA, sending it back to ASUS, etc. to fix the problem.

I used to get blue screens almost every day and now I have gone about 3 or 4 months with only 1.

Has this issue been resolved already this time? Is there now an available remedy to this problem?

My ASUS TUF GAMING A15 still keeps freezing from time to time. I've kept updating my drivers both through windows update and MyASUS diagnostic test, yet the problem still persists.

No. Updated to latest 218 bios and new amd chipset driver just a few days ago. There's no solution. After nearly 2 years I've given up hope of there being one. I'm just avoiding Asus laptops from now on.
