WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    The problem is that thees medic program is made for the faster SSD's.

    If you have your Windowsparticipation on a SSD the process is fast donn.

    But the slower HDD have the problem becaus they are slow and have a smal bandwith.

    I know that dosent help the most peoples that cant upgrade ther mashine but eaven whit a 250gb SSD that is not expensive all thees problems will vanish.

    No, WaaSMedic has been around since long before SSDs were common. It's the later versions of Windows that are designed to take advantage of SSDs. But on this system which has an SSD drive the weekly WasSMedic run is over so quickly I can't even catch it in the Task Manger. There is no way an SSD drive no matter how fast can scan all the files in the Package for Rollup Fix sub-folders in the LCU folder and all the files in the WinSxS folder in that short of a time. We're talking hundreds of thousands of files and about 12 gigs of data. No way WaaS is scanning all that so fast it can't even be seen in the Task Manager or Resource Monitor. So it appears the WaaS BUG only affects HDDs. Of course the price of SSDs has come down but how many people would know how to install an SSD and migrate their Windows install and data over to the new drive? If I were to migrate the data on my studio computer to an SSD I would then have to reauthorize a lot of plugins since their copy protection is based on machine ID. It's not a trivial task or I would have already done it. But to expect people to spend any money at all to solve this BUG that M$ introduced sometime earlier this year is totally unreasonable. Pay attention to what this guys says near the end of this video:

    This hurt my brain to read. Also, some people do not have the luxury of just buying a new SSD. Especially in today's economy. People should not have to pay to fix a problem that should not even be there- one introduced by a company for no good reason.
