WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Update 5th June on posting of yesterday. Someone at MS must of read my posting, this morning, a little slow opening apps for a few minutes. Task Manager showed Windows Module Installer running. When checked WUD's, 21H1 no longer an option, had auto installed, just requiring restart so moved directly from 2004 to 21H1 bypassing the 20H2 version. According to MS, auto install only happens after 18 months, appears to be another MS fib. Only difference seems start screen a lot darker - complaints seen from users with this issue on 20H2 update. See what happens tomorrow with WaasMedic auto. Also optional KB5003214 preview released for 2004 to 21H1, could muck up taskbar icons, about time MS employed a 5 year old to do updates, no doubt could do better.

    You can disable waasmedicagent via the registry and a reboot. However the service keeps getting enabled (perhaps by windows update). This is truly outrageous in that this service is processing thousands of files unrelated to windows update. When it runs my system literally pauses for 30 seconds at a time! Why is a piece of windows update processing anything unrelated to windows update?

    Sorry but you are wrong. This happens apparently every week and is totally unrelated to anything the user has done. You may not notice the overhead if your %APPDATA% has relatively few files in it. It's really horrendous overhead when you are running a service like PLEX media server that is serving out a large database of files. Why exactly does Microsoft have to process files that have nothing to do with Windows? %APPDATA% is used by any application for it's configuration data. There is not a thing Microsoft can do to "repair it" so why process it. We really need an answer from Microsoft on this because it is eating our systems alive.

    On my desktop WAAS can literally run the entire day. The entire time the desktop is pausing visibly. It all depends on how many files you have in %APPDATA%. I run a large plex media server and it has lots of files in %APPDATA%. The question for Microsoft is what value does it have to process these PLEX configuration files. There is nothing Microsoft can repair.
