WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    How did you fix it?
    According to the resource manager, WaasMedic has over 140 processes running on my laptop's hard drive!

    HI,

    had the same problem.  Went into task Mgr and deleted the process, and usage went back to normal.  Would LOVE to know what does this app do!??

    CubbYi - do you mean DELETE or do yo mean STOPPED? I assume you mean Stopped, the process is part of Windows & a necessary part of updating & repairing if necessary. DELETING could cause more serious issues - did not think it could be deleted anyway except through the registry which is very dangerous.

    Updated April WUD's Wednesday 14th, expected WassMedic to run on PM boot 15th based on previous out of schedule runs after installed an update. Not noticed any problems till this morning when it ran a scheduled run. Took about 7 minutes but during that time SmartByte Telemetry was also running which, from Task Manager, was taking more disc than WaasMedic. Other processes using disc but WaasMedic never seemed at top of disc usage so, perhaps, in this case, SmartByte took over. I have Norton 360 and that had a pop-up that Smartbyte was using a lot of disc but no pop-up for WaasMedic.  Smartbyte seems to be another that comes pre-installed and runs at various times out of the blue with high disc usage pop-up but decided to run itself same time as WaasMedic today.
