WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

I'm still experiencing slow start up (5 minutes no response, then 5-10 minutes of slow sporadic response).  This is every time I start up and makes no sense.  I see WaasMedic consistently taking 100% of disk.   Has anyone found a solution other than disabling WaasMedic?  Does it make sense to disable WaasMedic?  I'm assuming it performs a system function that could have negative consequences if disabled.   Any feedback or recommendations would be appreciated.   Where is MicroSoft considering this looks like a pervasive issue for many.

Rick HB - I understand that it cannot be disabled as such, I believe it can be suspended but will probably catch up later. The WassMedic service seems to be set at Manual which I assume needs something to push to start. This does not appear to be from Task Scheduler as no History shows coinciding with when it shows itself. I think all of us in in the dark why this is happening - likewise Microsoft otherwise they would correct it (wouldn't they ?). They must of instigated the issue somewhere along the line, only way could have been through WUD's. Apparently, all releases are tested by Microsoft before final release - how many times have we heard that and how many times have they let out duds.

MS can't even get messages sorted - just received your first posting today. I think I read somewhere can only be completely disabled from with-in the registry - dodgy ground although the option appears in Services. I assume in theory it is trying to repair something so hopefully would do the job. If it succeeded, why would it need to run again and again?. Either it is not repairing the issue (most likely) or the problem keeps reappearing as in my case where it is really only causing an issue shortly after receiving a WUD of some description. This would surely mean each of these include an issue or is it reporting false errors and feels the need to run. Come on Microsoft - YOU have caused the problem - YOU solve it.
