WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Any official respond yet. It happened to me twice days in a row when I turned on my pc. I've 1TB SSD memory, what kind of process is allowed to use all of that memory without asking!

    Happened to me again today, pm boot lot of disc activity, task manager showed this running. Ran Windows update 2 hours later - no updates available. Also Task Scheduler for Updates had stopped working from just after boot time from it's history. Rebooted, opened Updates, showed error with Try Again. Clicked & downloaded an update. Installed with reboot. This is 4th time happened since November, always mid term update and always appears to be Cumulative Update Preview for Net.Framework - significant ? If this happens just check Update & Security, reboot & should find error showing with 'requires attention ' top right corner. Sometimes 'Try again' still gives error, another reboot sorts. Evidently, problem caused by Microsoft.

    Bit of an update. Looking thru' records, 'Update Health Tools' was updated for me on 22nd January 2021 to Version 2.70.0.0 & again on 20th February 2021 to 2.75.0.0. Both came through unannounced - just appeared in update history. Does this infer Microsoft are trying to solve a known issue and have failed ? I am still on version 2004 Home.

    Thank you for your post about Update Health Tools. I now have that app on my system. It was installed (or updated) on my Win 10 Home version 20H2 system on Feb. 21 with MS update KB4023057. I did some reading about this on other forums. KB4023057 is a MS update for Windows 10 update service components. It has been installed - more than once - on various versions of Windows 10.

    From my reading the MS update health tools app provides the information you can view here: Windows 10 Settings.....Update and security.....Windows security....device performance and health.

    So what does all this mean for WaasMedic agent slowing down system performance? The KB4023057 update that MS sent the third week of February may be related or may have caused some systems to slow down during or after the update. In other forums the Feb 2021 KB4023057 update got installed by Microsoft without requiring any system reboot, which is required for the monthly cumulative updates.
