WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

I'm going to try manually shutting waasmedic down the next scheduled run on April 11th. I'll see if it runs again on the 12th. If so then it's pointless to shut it down. I'm going to install KB 5000842 on one system before the 11th and see if that fixes the issue but I have my doubts.

While this isn't any kind of permanent fix, I found a way to stop the waasmedic process from "taking over" my computer. Just shut down the Java Update Checker process in task manager, if you have that process running. To my amazement, the waasmedic process immediately stopped running after 25 minutes of continually hogging all my system resources at 90-98% disc capacity. It did not start running again, after a good 1 hour now of performing tasks on my computer.

So for anyone looking for a quick way to stop waasmedic without shutting that particular process down, just stop the Java Update Checker process. Will look into this thread later after the monthly Win cumulative update has been done.

Yesterday morning on boot, had a display adaptor (Intel) come down through WUD. Self installed with a second or two of screen black out & a 'bing - bong'. Restart required & done, all working OK. PM boot OK, AM this morning OK, PM boot running and degraded performance, ie. opening apps etc. Lasted 2/3 minutes (from 5 mins from 'ON' button) then diminished - finished after another 2-3 minutes so all clear with-in 10 minutes of 'ON'. So looks as WAASMedic runs after an install - not noted in Task Scheduler history as run so must be a separate trigger. The joke has now lasted for 4 months - no longer funny Microsoft - SORT IT - was not noticeable until the last few months - something MS has done as we have no control what rubbish they send us.

I DID stop and disable the Java update checker, but WaazMedic keeps running on every boot....
