WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    I had the same trouble and i fixed it by going to the windows update settings page and I installed all the windows updates there were and got rid of the process. It's a good idea to check that you don't have any update pending there and if you have, go install it, after the update the process should be gone.

    But what do you do when Windows Update keeps successfully installing the same driver update every time you boot / reboot, yet at the top of the Windows Update pane says, "“Error Encountered.  A current driver on your PC may be better than the driver we're trying to install. We'll keep trying to install”?

    And yes, the printer driver installed is the latest from the printer mfg (dated 12/18/2020), and no they do not offer any way to contact their support if you do not have a Xerox invoice # even though it is still in warranty.  (I bought the printer from the local Staples store.)

    Yep, you can just end this process, and nothing will happen. At least for me it worked.

    Windows 10 was recently installed in January on my machine and since the February update I noticed a strange behavior from WaasMedic Agent Exe. Every time I turned on my computer the next day, WaasMedic would appear and start consuming 100% of the disk for at least 5 minutes before Windows Update check updates for Windows Defender and Windows, and the process would also appear when triggering the Windows Update Troubleshooter. Strangely WaasMedic Agent Exe no longer runs on my machine after installing the recent KB5001649 update, not even forcing it through the Windows Update Troubleshooter as used to be. It's like if the process doesn't run or get triggered by something anymore.
