WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    Windows modules installing service,

    Windows module installer,

    Windows driver foundation,

    WaaSmedic Agent Exe.

    5 horsemen of apocalypse. These are running in background and my laptop with 16gb of ddr4 ram is completely unusable. Any app including windows explorer are so slow to the point of not responding and crashing. I just can't work or be productive like this.

    Windows wants to install/repair updates? Sure, I'd be fine if I had choice to shut it down/restart and let it install everything and then work like a normal person. But I don't have that choice, these apps will be running in background just when I need computer the most.

    Microsoft need to address this issue. Terrible user experience.

    Timing with me is basically as MarcHoppe's posting of 3rd March. Being old fashioned, normally leave for about 4 minutes from switch on before doing anything. With me, as this morning get about 5 minutes of disc running, short break, then another 4-5 minutes before it settles down. PM start up normally shorter duration. When it does run, normally no real effect on performance, this morning when I checked Task Manager - performance showed total 6% CPU & 50% disc, WAAS was running but kept jumping between top 4 or 5 processes with at least a couple of apps on screen. I keep a note of WUD running, normally records as 3-5 after AM boot, last week there was a second running recorded from Monday - Friday between 7:12 am & 7:16 am although boot times were up to an hour prior to this. There has been no Errors shown in WUD but there again there appears to have been any updates either auto or manual search. Completely baffled what is going on, in good company though, as it appears MS have no clue either otherwise they would correct it (or would they?)

    This finally worked for me and suddenly everything is very fast

    If you want to disable it, run regedit, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > DataCollection. Then create a new 32 bit D-Word value, name it "Allow Telemetry", and set value-data to 0.

    Do a Google search for WaasMedic Agent and you will find that it is a feature of Windows 10 that checks that the Windows update process is running properly and repairs the process if not. You can disable it only with third-party software, but that is not advisable.
