My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

It seems that even now AFTER ALL THIS TIME Microsoft has FAILED to respond in some or any way whatsoever!!

One would think or at least expect them to be a little bit concerned; but it seems that all they are transmitting to people on this very long ongoing thread is nothing but TOTAL IGNORANCE and a complete disregarded to their Duty of Care towards many people.

Reading through most of the comments I am of he opinion (and would like to believe) that Microsoft are checking everything they can on peoples Computers before releasing their Windows 11. But without a few lines from them we can only guess and hope that some awful 'Hickey' is not doing a 'Nasty' on our machines.

C'mon Microsoft - Do Something...... after all it is your 'Independence day' I believe.

Hi, same issue here, barely using my laptop, "nettfix" and some google search, but it is really struggling...

    Hopeless fight, very frustrating.

MS treating their customers with complete contempt. We have had one reply from a so-called MS employee, where is his feedback? They don't want to know our problems & tell us the TRUTH about this issue, even any normal person/company would have the common courtesy to so. They are now pushing Windows 11 - will this be completely free of MS spyware - I doubt it, will surely have more intrusions into our lives with even more of their data harvesting.

So before overwriting Win10 on my laptop and replacing it with Kubuntu Linux I decided to do a fresh install of Win10 21H1 to see if that improved performance. It does boot faster but this morning Win 10 starting grinding away at the HDD for over 10 minutes on a fresh install of Win 10 less than 24 hours old. There are no other program installed on it and I removed all the bloatware I could. I had rebooted it several times yesterday and no high disk usage so it's obvious that M$ has chosen Sunday as the day they will take over our systems. 21H1 also required me to log into a M$ account in order to install. Not that big of a deal since I have accounts but what if I want to sell that system? So now M$ is trying to keep us from even selling our old systems since they will be tied to our personal accounts? With Win 11 not being able to run on most older systems and Win 10 only being supported until 2025 it's obvious the only solution is to drop the M$ malware called Windows and use Linux.
