WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    I'd like to unsubscribe from this thread/topic. Info elsewhere in Msft Community tells me to click on the ellipse in the first message of the thread. I can't find the first message (looking among the 501 replies) and when I do get to what seems to be the first message, there's no ellipse. I can't even find my original post to the thread to un-tick the Notify box.

    Can you point me in the right direction, please?

    I finally found a fix ... actually a work around ... for this issue. I replaced my HD with a SSD. Now, instead of waiting 5-15 minutes for my laptop to boot, it's fully up and running in 8-15 SECONDS. That's faster than my iPad Pro (6,3).

    I didn't find much help when I monitored messages in this thread - there are a lot of missiles aimed at Microsoft, for good reason. But I never found a fix. My local PC tech said Waasmedic (and other resource hogs) should be allowed to run. "Your bottle neck is the hard drive." He was right. My wallet is about three-bills lighter, but I can use my PC on a moments notice. Not to mention other apps run much faster.

    An SSD is my solution, it might be your solution, too.

    Yes you can do an "End Task" in the Task Manager but that just turns it off for the current session. You can do the following Registry Hack to turn WaaS Medic off but Windows will just tun it back on.
