My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

Thanks,

Paul...

There are SO many problems like this, that Microsoft adds. SO MANY.

This is the Microsoft way of slowing down your computer so you buy a new model.

    Paul:

I submitted a problem report to Feedback. Link is: https://aka.ms/AAco522

Problem was: I started up computer today. Things were unusually slow. Ran task manager. Found that disc activity was 100% and waasmedic agent was one of top disc users.

I included "recreate my problem" info. Screenshot showed feedback hub app and task manager processes window.

For future submissions, is there anything else I ought to have running on my pc in addition to task manager before I select "recreate my problem"?

After I select "start recording" option, how long should I wait before selecting "stop recording"?

I don't really understand how the feedback hub recreate problem function works.

    Hi Paul,

I had 100% disk usage by WassMedic for up to 30 minutes to login for a couple of months.  Then it the problem went away without any changes by me and my logins took about 1-2 minutes.   Yesterday my login took around 5 minutes and this morning it took over 15 minutes.   I have not installed any apps or changed any configuration.   I opened up a HUB feedback as requested, but could not record the experience because my laptop is completely locked up when it's happening.

Ironically, immediately following my submission, but laptop was locked up again with 100% disk usage 'ServiceHost: UTCSVC'.  Again, I could not record anything since my desktop was locked up.

Not sure if others have had similar experience.   I have a new laptop and am using for very basic internet usage (News, Social Media, etc.).

If you want to submit feedback to feedback hub app, check to see that "Optional Diagnostic Data" is selected in

    Windows 10 settings....Privacy....Diagnostics.

I was unable to submit anything to feedback hub until I enabled the optional diagnostic data setting.
