WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    From all the data provided throughout this thread there seem to be indications that:

    1. WaasMedicAgent on SSDs checks only a few FILES, not entire directories.
    2. For a SYS partion on an HDD, WaasMedicAgent reads EVERY FILE in the SYS volume. So if you are a photogapher / videographer / audiophile that keeps thousands or tens of thousands of media files on you SYS volume, you are going to experience more difficulty than others. QUESTION: WHY IS WAASMEDICAGENT READING MY PERSONAL (NON-OS) FILES AND THIRD PARTY APPLICATION FILES?
    3. WaasMedicAgent is NOT a Windows Update Remediation module (as one MS official admitted) and has become the latest place to hide the "Application Experience" tasks and "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" etc. that most users have learned to disable in trying to slow down MS's assault on system resources.
    4. WaasMedicAgent and its spyware "helpers" (like MicrosoftEdgeUpdate, PcaPatchDbTask, etc.) primarily use up HD I/O resource, and not CPU.
    5. TO MICROSLOTH THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM - ITS A "FEATURE" - AND THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ITS IMPACT ON HDD USERS! If they can force you to SSDs so that their increased spying and violation of user privacy is less noticeable so much the better!

    On my system that folder also contained 3 Package for Rollup Fix folders. I ran MS Disk Cleanup utility.... clean up system files which included "Windows Update Cleanup". After completion, only one - the latest - Package for Rollup Fix folder remained. Interestingly, the Disk Cleanup Utility predicted that "Windows Update Cleanup" would only free up 110 MB, but it actually removed GBs of files in Windows...Servicing...LCU.

    For the last couple of months, I have been running Disk Cleanup/Windows Update Cleanup utility after Win 10 updates. It is not a free lunch, since it takes more than 20 minutes to run on my HDD system and spikes disc activity to 100%. My feeling is that waasmedic impacts on my HDD system have been reduced since I have been doing that. Your info that waasmedic reads the Package for Rollup Fix folders may explain why.

    I also find the comments about every Win10 update in Tenforums "Windows 10 News" forum https://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/ help me decide whether to install the update or wait.

    None of this is a fix for waasmedic problem, but it may help as a work around.

    MarcHoppe I'm on a Dell Inspiron 3670, 8 GB memory with 1 TB HDD. Had it just over a couple of years but Windows system one 6 month period out so was then updated to to the then current version. 2 Packages for Updates, one for 12th May & the other for 9th June installed updates (UK based). First file 52,000 & 2nd 50,000 files taking up total 1.85 GB disc space. Is your 5th June a rogue file ?
