WaasMedic Agent Exe stopping me from working

My computer slowed to a crawl. I cannot work. I checked task manager and saw a process waas Medic agent exe is the culprit. It is using 2.8 mb of memory and 1.2 mbs of disk usage.

I understand this is a Microsoft process. What I don't understand is what give Microsoft the right to take over my computer whenever it wants to and stop me from working.

How do I stop this?

Update (5/5/21) - Editing with some additional details.

Can some of you reporting high CPU or high disk usage of the WaasMedic agent create a Feedback Hub entry for me and share the Feedback URL on this thread?

The most important part would be the 'Recreate my Problem' recording while you see the high resource usage in Task Manager.

I want to promote some of these Feedback entries for investigation.

Updates:

Thank you for those who have been trying to file feedback. In some cases the system performance has prevented the use of Recreate my problem.

The Feedback is still useful without the recording, I will still raise those entries.

It is also useful if the Feedback is done shortly after the system is no longer experiencing the high disk usage, I will be calling out those entries as well.

Finally, I was not clear about the best Category and Sub Category selections. Please use Category: Install and update Sub Category: Downloading, installing, and configuring Windows Updates

    I just checked and there is not one failed update on my laptop going all the way back to September of last year. Today Waas Medic was running and chewing away at my hard drive for half an hour. I finally just chose to "end task". A manual check for updates shows the system is fully up to date or at least no updates are offered. I'm running 20H2 Build 19042.844 and I have not done an update file clean up.

    Does anyone know how to report this BUG to Microsoft ? They obviously don't read this forum.

    I'm about ready to install a Linux distro and dual boot it with Winblows 10 and just let Windows die. There are a couple of things I still need on the windows side otherwise I'd overwrite it and just install Linux.

    Use Windows Feedback and fill in the form. Ensure you put in as many details as possible explaining the situation.

    I know how this is going to sound, however;  I feel MS is using our computers as nodes for some other purpose.  Like all things in this material world our computers are not ours.

    I mean, you buy a movie online, but the vendor admits, you don't really own it; just as one example of what we do nowadays.

    Another resource hog are the AntiViral softwares.  Watch the resource usage from them.  When WaasMedicAgent isn't hogging everything the antivirus apps are.

    Since I do not go to sites I shouldn't I am about to consider turning them off and seeing if MS Defender will protect me just as well.

    Dunno about that just yet, considering it.

    Anyway, I do believe our computers are just nodes for some other purpose by MS, Apple, etc...  Sounds nutty, but who really knows?

    News today about MS soon to go up to Windows 11. All becomes clear now what his all about, MS will force us to upgrade, various musings whether it will be a subscription service or not. If it is, who would pay for an operating system that, no doubt, would be just as bad or worse than we already have, just this thread says it all. I think many of us will definitely think of using a different OS other than MS next time round, whatever it is, cannot be any worse than we have been lumbered with now. Looks like MS in first stage of committing suicide.

    This has made my wife's PC crawl to an unusable state on an almost daily basis. The WaasMedicAgent doesn't appear to have anything to do with patching or remediation as it's most active during periods following patches. I am loath to migrate my wife to a boot SSD until this debacle has been fixed. In the meantime, her HDD is locked at 100% usage with monotonous frequency and it makes her angry and frustrated at being locked out of using the PC for even browsing the web for 40 minutes at a time. This is unacceptable
